Embracing Pinterest for Fashion/Beauty

John B. Marine | 1:51 PM | | |
Pinterest is a social medium for sharing a certain collection of images under a certain theme. For fashionable types, it allows for inspiration posting of outfits and items. I never embraced Pinterest fully until a month ago (as of May 14, 2019). I posted about using Pinterest more than I ever have in a recent post in my main blog, "John's Blog Space." Now, I am here to discuss using Pinterest if you are into fashion/beauty. This will not be any fully detailed post on Let me continue this casual post regarding Pinterest and fashion. Of course, all posts on "StyleSpace by JBM" have to have some kind of fashion/beauty connection.

My Pinterest Experience So Far.

The first Board I started was on April 15, 2019; and it was about dresses with sneakers outfits that I actually like. This first Board I created was eventually called "Dresses With Sneakers Outfits That Actually WORK." As much as I felt the need to express thoughts of mine with any sort of material, I felt it was only right to do so with Pinterest. So I came along with many more different Boards on Pinterest sharing my mind about various other things. I thought it only seemed fair to try to express various thoughts under a certain category or categories. Ideas and collections I want to share are still fresh in my mind the more I want to use Pinterest. For the most part, maybe I overlooked or disregarded Pinterest when I probably shouldn't have.

What is Pinterest for Fashion/Beauty Types?

Pinterest could be a great collection of ideas. For example, if you want to show off pictures of beautiful wedding dresses, all you have to do is collect various images of wedding dresses you like. I created a number of Pinterest Boards expressing certain topics. Relevant to this blog post, a lot of my Boards relate to specific outfits and other things. When I created this first Board regarding dresses with sneakers outfits that I actually like, I wanted to try to find as many different pictures as possible to help exhibit my own fashion tastes. Some of the different pictures are simply copies of what I have previously added to Pinterest Boards. It is like I am creating a blog post on Pinterest by providing visual expressions of what it is I am trying to convey to others. So I made the focal point of my Board on dress with sneakers outfits based on an outfit put together by Kendall Jenner when she wore a polka dot mini dress with Adidas sneakers. I then looked for various other dress + sneaker combinations that I thought worked. You really will have to look around even be lucky to find more ideas on Pinterest to help fill your Boards.

I later went ahead and tried more Boards with different topics. So I even looked into things like focusing on certain garment types and certain styles of footwear. I wanted to prove (for example) that boat shoes can be pretty cute for fashionable females. I also tried to prove that rompers/playsuits can be stylish, even though most people think rompers are for babies and children. Some of the Boards you create can have a lot of Followers following your work. So keep expressing yourself any way you please!

Pinterest takes on a different personality when you are a fashion retailer. Especially if you design your own fashions, you can showcase your fashions and offer links for where to buy your fashions if you market them on Pinterest. If you're inclined, you can share a link to your posted fashions that you post on Pinterest in case of potential buyers. So Pinterest can be a great marketing tool for your fashion line if you are using Pinterest to showcase your material. I think you have more leverage on Pinterest with marketing fashion than you do on Instagram. Speaking of Pinterest vs. Instagram...

Pinterest vs. Instagram.

While I don't fully understand Pinterest, I do at least have a general idea as to what you use Pinterest for and how to utilize it. Pinterest is picture-sharing social media, but not in the case of Instagram. I would probably say Pinterest is better for you if you are sharing some of your own physical or digital goods. There is, however, a HUGE difference between Pinterest and Instagram. The biggest difference between the two is that Pinterest does not use or utilize tags for any pictures. So whatever ideas may be offered for a Pinterest Board may not completely suit what the board is about. The inclination is more towards visual searching. Pinterest also involves material already posted online rather than Instagram showing material actually already posted by individuals themselves. You can, though, upload your own images and put them in your own Boards. Your images could also be part of other peoples' Boards. You can think of Pinterest more like your own saved collection of images you'd probably put in a collection as if you were doing image searches with your favorite search engine.
