INU INU Light-Up Shoes

John B. Marine | 12:51 AM | | | | Be the first to comment!
Light-up shoes ONLY for kids? Think again! At least... in the eyes of designer INU INU. This company designed some light-up shoes that have been pretty popular among certain people. Would you buy what INU INU is selling? You have a chance to light up the world around you and look as cool as you want to be. You have the opportunity to get noticed and call attention to yourself by wearing a unique pair of sneakers like these. Would you, though? This blog post offers up a look at these most interesting shoes.

I am referring only to the INU INU light-up shoes, in case there are any knockoffs of these shoes.

--- INU INU Light-Up Shoes ---

Want to know what these sneakers look like? Here you go:

INU INU Light Up Shoes
^ from: inuinu.com - Light up your life! These sneakers from INU INU make light-up dreams possible.

INU INU is a Japanese designer of many casual style garments. Their light-up sneakers are among one of their most popular offerings. The sneakers themselves can be customized with one of seven different colors for the lights. If you are into aftermarket car tuning, you may be aware of neon underlighting for cars. Well, this is like the fashion version of neon underlighting with these light-up sneakers. The sneakers can actually be charged via USB. So you won't have to worry about picking up some small batteries or anything while wearing these. I probably wouldn't recommend going through water or anything with these sneakers.

INU INU Light-Up Shoes: Video Inights.

Here are some videos for you on these shoes. Be sure to get the full story from these two to get an idea on these shoes:

^ "REVEAL: LIGHT UP SHOES"

^ "LED/LIGHT UP SHOES: INUINU Review"

There you have your insight on these light-up shoes.

INU INU Light-Up Shoes: Final Thoughts.

Everyone is looking for ways to express themselves through many different garments and styles. In the sense of the INU INU Light Up shoes, those looking to express themselves by wearing some light-up sneakers will have no problem getting noticed. These sneakers with the light-up portions at the bottom would be an absolute boon for those especially among the alternative and rave crowds. I would NEVER wear these. However, for anyone trying to express themselves or be unique, wearing these shoes is one way to get noticed and be cool. The only thing I wonder is how many people will think wearing these shoes make you seem stupid, especially in the sense that mostly kids wear light-up shoes. I would NEVER make this judgment to someone about these shoes or anyone who wears them. Only thing is that you know there are some people who will really slam certain people and talk about them in distasteful ways for something like this. And of course... a goal of "StyleSpace by JBM" is to not criticize people rather than fashions.

For More Information...

Are you convinced about these shoes? If so, visit this link from the official maker of these sneakers: INU INU Light-Up Shoes.

You lighten up my day with your visit to my blog! :)

Thanks for visiting "StyleSpace by JBM!" If you want to discuss these, here's a question for you:

What do you think about these light-up shoes from INU INU? Would you wear any kind of light-up shoes or even put outfits together with these?

YRU

John B. Marine | 10:04 PM | | | | | Be the first to comment!
YRU (Youth Rise Up) is a famous Japanese company that makes bold and rebellious shoes for men and women. Mostly edgy types wear these, as well as the sort of punk types. I mostly know YRU for platform sneakers worn by males and females. They offer some clothes, but they primarily are best known for their shoes. This post just takes a basic look at YRU and gives you a little insight on them. Don't expect this to be some definitive resource for all things YRU or anything.

--- YRU ---

Let's take a look at YRU and their offerings.

YRU at a Glance.

As I mentioned earlier, Youth Rise Up (or YRU) is a Japanese fashion company mostly known for their shoes. They are popular for their platform shoes. You may see them being worn by people on LOOKBOOK. If you're looking for "cute" shoes, YRU does NOT have your "cute" shoes. Instead, you'll get some wicked shoes to make you the coolest dude or the coolest girl. A vast majority of their offerings are feminine except for their popular Qozmo sneakers. Speaking of which, let's start with those sneakers in my discussion of this brand...

Qozmo Series.

YRU Qozmo sneakers
^ from: www.findandsave.com - These are the popular YRU Qozmo sneakers in plain white.

YRU Qozmo Sky White
^ from: shoelust.net - These are a pair of YRU's Qozmo sneakers worn by a model. The outfit the model is wearing includes these sneakers, white tights, and a short coral dress.

The Qozmo sneakers are the most popular shoes sold by YRU. Most of these sneakers are three-inch tall platforms that have a four-inch heel. They are commonly seen as either all-black or all-white sneakers. However, there are versions of these sneakers in all kinds of colors and styles. These are high-top sneakers worn by males and females. So these are unisex sneakers.

Other Platforms.

YRU Ballet Bae
^ from: www.polyvore.com - These are the "Ballet Bae" peep-toe boots from YRU. They feature a ribbon-like lace-up appearance, a chunky heel, and a chunky platform base. I'm sorry if I'm old or not with the cool kids, but for those who don't know what "bae" means, it's almost like "babe," only without the extra "b." Yeah, I know. I'm old.

YRU features a variety of alternative footwear mostly catering the edgy and punk crowds. A lot of their footwear are mostly platform and flatform shoes. Nothing of theirs is "cute" or "sexy." But at the same time, none of their offerings are hardcore edgy. So many of these shoes are perfectly fine for mostly casual wear. A lot of their shoes are as casual as a pair of Chuck Taylor Converses. Bringing up the "Ballet Bae" boots, I first recall a lady by the name of Alexa Ober as to where I first recall and recognize seeing these shoes. A much more popular fashionista who sported these peep-toe booties is Rachel Lynch of "i hate blonde."

While their offerings are few, YRU offers some clothing. And unlike their mostly unisex shoes, their apparel offerings are just about all feminine with T-shirt dresses, dresses, and other offerings.

Not Just Platforms?

YRU Angyl pumps
^ from: www.solestruck.com - These are the "Angyl" pumps from YRU. Clearly not platforms and clearly not exactly "hardcore."

While Youth Rise Up is known for their platform shoes, YRU actually also makes non-platform shoes. They make some flats and some low-heel shoes aside from their platform offerings. Remember I noted that YRU doesn't really have any shoes that would qualify as "sexy?" Well, their closest two shoes that would be considered "sexy" are their "Angyl" and "Dream" shoes.

YRU: Online Insight.

For outfits worn with YRU, here is some LOOKBOOK insight for you: "YRU" on LOOKBOOK

You now have a little insight on YRU. Thoughts of mine on YRU and their offerings will be featured in the next section.

--- YRU: Final Thoughts ---

Youth Rise up is surely a unique footwear brand who favors people who want to be as FAR away from mainstream or "normal" as possible. It is a brand for people who exemplify themselves with personalities and styles that aren't "cute" or what most people would consider normal. These are people who want to stand out in their own way with an edgy overtone. Individuals who want to distinguish themselves and wear some very cool shoes would be hard-pressed to not at least consider YRU's offerings. If you're the more hardcore, rocker type, especially wanting buckles and skulls and stuff, you may not be fully satisfied with YRU. But for others who want to dress boldly and with a sort of punk style, be sure to give YRU a look-see.

For More Information...

To learn more about Youth Rise Up and their products, please visit www.y-r-u.com.

To shop for YRU items, here are a few links that might interest you. The majority of these links feature women's shoes, even though I noted some YRU shoes are mostly unisex shoes:
• YRU on Amazon
• YRU on eBay (Women's Shoes)
• YRU on Dolls Kill
• YRU on Solestruck
• YRU on Karmaloop

Thanks a lot for visiting!

Time to discuss (if you like)!

Are you a fan of YRU and their items? Would you (or have you) paired their footwear with their footwear?

Lolita Fashion

John B. Marine | 6:47 PM | | | | | 3 Comments so far
Feminine and oh-so-cute, lolita fashion is expressive and creative. Pretty skirts and dresses along with lovely hairstyles and wigs make lolita fashion fun and expressive. Don't forget all the cute colors and patterns to these outfits as well. You don't have to be Japanese to enjoy lolita-type fashions. In fact, there are many females of many nationalities that partake in lolita fashion and dressing up so cutely. You have Americans, Canadians, various Europeans, and others worldwide that have their own twist on lolita fashion. I won't provide an outright look at lolita fashion, but I can introduce it to my "StyleSpace by JBM" audience.

This blog post is more or less a digest on lolita fashion. I'm not going to express any tips or anything on lolita fashion here.

--- Lolita Fashion ---

Random image I selected to set the mood for this blog post (I'll find another image if I can't use it for copyright reasons):

lolita fashion
^ from: kerli.buzznet.com (links to image source) - Lolita fashion offers kawaii (cute) style.

Lolita Fashion at a Glance.

If you are not a girly-girl or dislike anything really cute, this may not be the kind of style that will please you. Lolita fashion dates back to the 1970s in Japan. The trademarks of lolita chic mostly lie with super girly and doll-like outfits. These are usually girly or poofy skirts and dresses. Cute hairstyles or wigs are complimented either with pretty hair adornments or hats. Cute shoes and boots are worn along with some pretty tights or socks. The shoes themselves can either be some girly shoes or some boots, and they may either be flats or platforms (usually platform shoes).

Rather than super-girly colors, you have even Gothic lolita fashions. Just trade the pretty colors for dark and evil black colors. Maybe even trade the cute-colored shoes and tights for dark-colored and dark-hued colors. How about a pair of black knee-high lace up platform boots instead of some super-cute mary jane platforms?

Most of the emphasis in lolita fashion is on pretty. I've always seen these outfits as a showcase of pretty. I love lolita fashion for the expressive and colorful nature of these outfits. A lot of the ladies who dress up lolita style are very cute and very girly. Many are almost like living dolls the way these females are so expressive with these lolita outfits. Such outfits and items can be bought online, but a lot of females make their own lolita outfits. Famous companies who design such noteworthy lolita fashions include the likes of Antenna and Baby the Stars Shine Bright.

Lolita Fashion: Why Should You Care?

Does lolita fashion spark interest to overshadow the world's finest designers? Absolutely not. Is lolita fashion incredibly chic and fashionable? No. Are these sexy and romantic fashions? Not at all. So why should you even care? First of all, fashion doesn't have to be overly chic to be of anyone's interest. Lolita fashion has its own appeal. Maybe lolita fashion may seem too much like costumes rather than wearable pieces you can enjoy any time of year. But on the other hand, lolita fashion is as much about expression as any other style of fashion or any subculture of fashion. Traditional lolita fashion is defined and characterized by girly and cute outfits.

Lolita Fashion: Video Perspective.

Let me show you a video or two offering up some insight on lolita fashion. The video, just like almost anything I post, is provided for educational purposes. Take a look or click on the link below the video to view on YouTube (and thank you to the one who allowed this video to be embedded):

^ "Parasols and Petticoats: A Lolita Fashion Documentary"

Here is another video with a lot of other lolita fashions:

^ "Houston Jfest Lolita Fashion Show!"

Lolita Fashion: Did You Know...

Before I go any further, let me share with you something. What I will be discussing is the super-cute and super-creative realm of Japanese lolita fashion. But...

...did you know that the "lolita" namesake comes from a novel called "Lolita," which is about a little girl who was raped by her pedophile stepfather? I learned of this from a YouTube comment as I was researching this topic.

Perhaps this novel and its influences exhibit why lolita fashion seems childish in appearance.

Now that you have some insight on lolita fashion from a combination of my commentary and the featured videos, how about we take a further look at lolita?

--- Lolita Fashion Around the Internet ---

Let me use this space to show you either lolita fashion or lolita-inspired fashion. If you adore the works of the featured personalities, feel free to Follow and Subscribe to their blogs to keep up with their latest posts (granted their blogs are still updated). These are all either lolita fashions or lolita-inspired fashions:

• "Snow Chant..." (Dreaming with fae creatures) « a Polish lady with a lolita-style outfit.
• "Sweet Lolita" « not a traditional lolita outfit, but a lolita-inspired outfit.
• "Dolly Castle" (Cupcake's Clothes) « A British lady with a lolita-like outfit.

The bloggers above are some of the ones to immediately come to mind. These others are blogs I don't follow, but I want to feature to help provide more inspiration to you all.
• -untitled- (DaniLamb Designs) « an American in a lolita outfit for a fair.
• -untitled- (Welcome to a Sweet World) « a sailor lolita outfit.

• ("lolita" search results on LOOKBOOK) « lolita outfits on LOOKBOOK (not all are traditional lolita outfits)

As you can tell from some of the featured persons, you need not be Japanese or be from Japan to embrace lolita fashion style. All you mostly need is an eye for creativity and embracing that lolita charm.

--- Lolita Fashion: Final Thoughts ---

Lolita fashion is a style of its own with unique flair and charm. Lolita chic isn't exclusively Japanese. Those with the creativity to sport such girly and cute outfits and offer the various makeup and beauty touches are the ones who truly shine with lolita chic. This style will not woo those into more refined and chic outfits and styles. Then again, I'm sure most who rock lolita couldn't care less. This is a unique style with wonderful character. The array of colors mixed in with the various other touches make most females look amazing. Even if lolita is very costume-like, at least this is costume-like that can be just as beautiful as any more refined outfit or style. So if you adore lolita fashion, rock your lolita style and enjoy lolita chic!

This is really the only related material regarding lolita fashion:

"Making Your Own Clothes" (StyleSpace by JBM)
^ This blog post is a look at making your own clothes. I mention this post because I stated earlier that some lolita fashion types make their own dresses and skirts rather than buy online. So take a look at this past post of mine if making your own clothes interest you.

I'll try to get something going in regards to lolita fashion. Check out the next section or move on to the conclusion.

--- Lolita Fashion Online ---

I tried to gather as much resources as possible for those of you wanting to try out lolita fashion. I may add more in edits, but this is the best I've come up with so far. I already knew ShopStyle by POPSUGAR probably isn't going to help out my audience, so I went immediately to various other sources. Build up your lolita gear or learn more about lolita fashion with these resources:

Go-Go Dancing Chic

John B. Marine | 2:22 PM | | | | 2 Comments so far
You go-go girl! Go-go dancing can be fun and eccentric. My post on "John's Blog Space" is one of the most popular posts on there. With go-go dancing, there are two kinds of go-go lovers: vintage and modern. Vintage go-go girls dressed in short skirts and dresses sporting unique boots. Today's more modern go-go girls are mostly scantily clad sporting either platforms or some sort of sneakers; and a lot of them mostly parade in eye-catching, colorful, often times edgy outfits. No matter what, go-go chic has its own unique allure.

This blog post focuses primarily on the fashion side of go-go chic.

WARNING: Some content in this blog post may not be suitable for all audiences. You are viewing most of this material at your own risk.

A Special Hello...

...if you are a go-go dancer reading this. I hope this post will be to your liking. Oh, and... welcome to my blogging universe! Nice having you in my universe's orbit! :)

--- Go-Go Dancing: Basics ---

Get excited for go-go dancing! Here's a video to get you in the mood for this topic:

^ "Go Go Dance ...."

Before I discuss go-go dancing fashion, allow me to offer a fun fact.

According to Wikipedia, "go-go" refers to someone who has seemingly endless energy. You've perhaps heard of the French expression "a gogo." In French, something "a gogo" has something in abundance. So you are talking about those who have an abundance of energy here.

Go-go types are primarily those who wear flamboyant and daring fashions. How much so? Depends on if you're into vintage go-go chic or modern go-go dancing chic.

Go-Go Dancing: Vintage Type.

vintage go-go dancer costume
^ from: www.amazon.com - This costume is an example of vintage go-go chic.

Vintage go-go types often enjoy wearing short dresses and short skirts dancing on stage at nightclubs. They are also famous for wearing these knee-high boots that have chunky mid-height heels. These go-go boots are popular even today. A lot of the go-go style dresses are mostly colorblocked, mod style dresses. These dresses mostly hit at mid-thigh length.

Here is a video of some vintage go-go dancing. Get excited for this if you love vintage go-go dancing:

^ "Go-Go Dancers 60's. 1960's Little Betty Boop Also Appears."

That was go-go dancing then...

Go-Go Dancing: Modern Type.

...and this is go-go dancing now:

^ "visionz go go dancer auditions 1280x720" (WARNING: bad language and some suggestive content)

NOTE: I tried to find an appropriate picture to describe this section, but I was unable to find one. So I ended up showing you this video above. I hope you enjoyed it.

In today's go-go culture, go-go dancers are scantily clad for the most part. The emphasis is more on attention-grabbing looks and outfits that exhibits the sexual beauty of the dancer. I have paid certain attention to petite and plus size types in a lot of my blog posts. Today's modern go-go dancers, however, have sexy and slim figures. Women both short and tall often parade around in appealing go-go dancing outfits. Outfits themselves can either be colorful and with attention-grabbing accents (such as side ties on bikini tops or bottoms, fuzzy legwarmers, huge boots, etc.), or some others can be completely edgy wearing certain garments that would easily please the Goth/punk set.

One thing to stress is that go-go dancers are NOT strippers or any kind of adult entertainers. In fact, there are many go-go dancing managers and such who strongly discourage go-go dancers to strip. Those who violate that rule often don't get to perform another gig at nightclubs or for certain promoters. Go-go dancing is all about dancing to the crowd to high-energy music. Those who simply love such high-energy dancing and such a high-energy lifestyle often enjoy go-go dancing.

While go-go dancing seems exclusively feminine, believe it or not, there are also males who take part in go-go dancing. Their popularity is about the same as with cheerleading in the sense that it's better served and suited towards females than males.

This gives you a basic look at go-go dancing. if you want a more lengthy read on go-go dancing, read my "John's Blog Space" post called "Go-Go Dancing." A link will be provided later in this post. Up next is a look at go-go fashion.

--- Go-Go Dancing Chic ---

Here now is a fashion look at go-go dancing. Some material from this blog post may show up in future posts on StyleSpace by JBM.

Go-Go Boots: Traditional.

traditional go-go boots
^ from: www.amazon.com - Go-go boots as you (assuming you were around in the 1960s) may remember them.

The traditional go-go boots had their heyday in the 1960s. These boots are knee-high boots with a chunky, yet moderate high heel. These are not high-heel boots, but they are not flat either. Go-go boots are wearable either as a regular outfit or for dancing. Some cheerleaders- like the cheerleaders for my Houston Texans of the National Football League- even wear go-go boots as part of their wardrobe. Go-go boots of today can come in all sorts of colors. While they are not usually lace-up boots, I have seen some lace-up go-go boots online before.

Go-Go Boots: Today.

A lot of today's go-go dancers wear a sexy pair of platform wedge boots. The most popular boots among go-go dancers today have five inches of platform and a patchwork design. As I'm told, despite the massive platform, they are comfortable to walk around and dance in. These are the vastly popular STACK 301 boots from Demonia:

go-go boots Demonia
^ from: www.amazon.com - Some of today's go-go dancers sport these massive platform boots. These boots are the STACK-301 Boots from the alternative footwear company, Demonia by Pleaser.

Let me make a small note about the boots I mentioned above. Those are listed as men's boots, but they are mostly unisex boots. I've seen them more commonly worn by women. I have seen maybe only one or few men wear those boots. Plus, they look hotter on women than on men. Things I've read about these boots is that these boots are comfortable to go-go dance in despite their massive platform base. If you know your regulars on LOOKBOOK, you may have heard of Rachel Lynch. She has worn these extremely popular platform boots before with some outfits. To give you some blogging insight on how these boots look, I want to invite you to check out the link below just to see these boots being worn by someone. So take a look:

Blogging Insight:
• "NYFW DAY TWO: Rainbow Space Alien" (i hate blonde) « a glitter version of the Demonia STACK-301 boots.

IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED...
Those Demonia STACK-301 boots are huge, so they possibly can't be any good for go-go dancing, right? Well, watch this video of a lady practicing go-go dancing in these massive platform boots. This video is a bit on the "not safe for work" side, mostly because of her outfit. So I am including this video on a "you are watching this video at your own risk" basis. Click on the link to view on YouTube: Gogo Practice- 7 inch stacks.

Now get back to work/school! :)

Go-Go Dress.

go-go mod dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - This mod dress is a modern take on the old-style mod dresses of the 1960s that go-go girls wore.

Women in the 1960s wore short, colorful mod dresses along with go-go boots. Most of today's go-go dresses primarily are of the costume variety. Today's go-go type dresses may have any number of creative patterns and designs to compliment their style. Most go-go mod dresses hit at about mid-thigh and are either sleeveless or with long sleeves.

That's go-go dancing from a fashion standpoint. Up next is a look at go-go dancing among true go-go dancers.

--- Go-Go Fashion: Go-Go Dancer Outfits ---

Whether on platforms, in cages, out in the open, or whatever the case... this section ONLY pertains to true go-go dancers. If you saw my video example of modern go-go dancers, you may have noted what a lot of today's go-go dancers wear while performing their go-go dancing.

Some of today's go-go dancers (past and present) include the likes of Jenny Chu, Flo Jalin, Helen Su, Sasha Singleton, Thuy Li, Amanda Jordan, Teemaree, Pam Rodriguez, Candy Vang, and Tila Nguyen (better known as Tila Tequila). Many of them all dress up in unique and eye-catching outfits bearing their attractive and seductive charm.

Today's go-go dancers sport some scantily clad outfits while in big boots dancing to hot dancing music. Most of today's go-go dancers will wear a cropped top along with either hot pants or some sort of briefs. Some may even wear skirted bottoms. The most important element of go-go dancing is to look and feel as eye-catching as possible (apart from one's moves, of course). Certain go-go dancers either wear platform boots or knee-high sneakers similar to Converses.

To be as eye-catching as possible, go-go dancers often wear certain outfits to woo the crowd. Especially at nightclubs, you will see short skirts, some neon, and even furry legwarmers. This is all to be as appealing as possible while dancing on stage. And guess what- these items work! Mostly athletic types with lovely bodies are the usual sort of go-go dancers you will see. It is rare you'll find a go-go dancer who is curvy to some capacity.

--- Go-Go Dancing Chic: Final Thoughts ---

Go-go chic is very cool depending on who you ask. It is a style of dance that is eccentric and enticing. Nothing quite like dancing with high energy to mostly high-energy music. While a fellow like myself would be easily enticed at a lady dancing to high-energy music or at high-energy events, vintage go-go dancing types exude a much different and much more unique character. Even if you aren't into dancing (let alone go-go dancing), one can still enjoy wearing classic go-go boots. Go-go dancing is all about expression and having fun.

Alternative Footwear

John B. Marine | 7:52 PM | | | 4 Comments so far
Alternative footwear brands offer shoes for much different fashion and lifestyle cultures. Some can offer outlandish shoes MUCH different from what department stores sell. Some offer shoes for costumes ranging from kids to adults. Some even offer sexy and fetish-type footwear. Whatever the case, this blog post is a look at some different alternative footwear brands and the shoes they offer. I have been wanting to do a blog post on this topic for a long time to set as my halo post for Alternative fashions.

WARNING: The content in this blog post may not be safe for work or may not be suitable for all audiences. You are reading this blog post at your own discretion.

About the Label: "Alternative"

Items under the "Alternative" label are about fashions popular among alternative lifestyles. These posts can range from non-mainstream fashions, subcultures of fashion (such as Goth and punk), even fashions among adult entertainment and fetishitic fashions. Each of these posts are almost understandably not suited for all audiences due to their subject matter.

--- Alternative Footwear: Why Bother? ---

The shoes we wear are good enough to compliment a host of outfits. They allow us to express ourselves with quality footwear that is every bit as unique as our own personalities. These are comfortable shoes for us to wear. However, there are those who want to express their personality with shoes that are either slightly different... or MUCH different.

You know there are people out there who want to really look and feel unique, and your average mainstream retailers just don't do it for them. I always talk about fashion as being a form of expression. Going to mainstream retailers just might not be the kind of fashion touch some people long for. Some stores that cater to alternative lifestyles and different subcultures may provide fashions better suited to engage in certain personalities. The focal point of this blog post is on alternative footwear.

Some alternative footwear makers design shoes to help fill a void or establish something that major retailers simply can't provide. It is to no fault of any major companies. It is just that certain alternative footwear companies understand and cater to certain fashionable desires. Certain kinds of alternative footwear better complete some people and whatever styles they choose to express.

Functional Alternative Footwear.

Besides offerings provided by alternative lifestyle brands, some alternative footwear makers are better tailored to certain people to meet certain needs. For example, there are shoe makers who design shoes for petite feet and even for larger-size feet. Some shoe makers even provide functional footwear for those experiencing certain health problems.

No matter what, there are footwear options for both those into certain lifestyles and for those looking for special shoes that are fun and functional. Some people can have better style options for their outfits with certain alternative shoes.

--- Alternative Footwear: Pictures ---

Here are some alternative-style footwear options for people. What I want to do here is showcase different styles of footwear different from what you would probably see a normal retailer provide. All examples are provided for educational purposes. Hover your cursor over each item to learn its proper name. Some of these items may be discussed in blog posts in the future:

alternative footwear platform boots
^ from: www.amazon.com - These huge platform wedge boots from Demonia were very popular in the mid-2000s by go-go dancers. Males even wore these massive boots.

alternative footwear male boots
^ from: www.amazon.com - How hard do you like it? This is a tough pair of men's Goth/punk boots. This specific pair is from a Spanish company called NEW ROCK.

alternative footwear female boots
^ from: www.amazon.com - Females also love a tough pair of boots. Some of these boots are tougher than even the most rebellious combat boots.

alternative footwear kinky shoes
^ from: www.amazon.com - Alternative footwear also caters to sexy types. Try these kinky shoes.

alternative footwear pumps
^ from: www.amazon.com - Not all shoes from certain alternative footwear designers are exclusively kinky or meant for *adult entertainers*. Some offerings look fairly modest or not all that exclusive to adult fashions. These shoes are a prime example.

alternative footwear sandals
^ from: www.amazon.com - The most common of shoes even come from alternative footwear companies. Try these platform flip-flop/thong sandals, for instance.

alternative sexy shoes
^ from: www.rakuten.com - Among alternative footwear brands, there are some outrageous shoes made for those truly daring. Fetishistic types surely apply.

thigh high boots
^ from: www.amazon.com - I usually think of boots like these when over-the-knee boots come to mind, including any and all attempts to make them fashionable. I have loathed over-the-knee boots for the longest.

alternative
^ from: www.amazon.com - For those having troubles with back pain and other ailments, shoes like these from Z-CoiL are alternative-type footwear that are functional and helpful.

That concludes your look at alternative footwear.

--- Alternative Footwear: Brands ---

These are only a few of many different brands of alternative footwear. Visit each designer's website by clicking on the header to each featured brand in this section.

Pleaser (USA site).

One of the most popular alternative footwear designers is Pleaser. Their shoes encompass alternative style for males and females. The shoes range from casual fashion to various costumes and certain adult-oriented fashions.

Pleaser consists of various other brands, including: Demonia, Bordello, Pin Up Couture, Funtasma, and Devious among others. This is mostly a shoe designer suited to please all kinds of people in the alternative footwear realm ranging from edgy to sexy.

New Rock.

Spanish shoe designer New Rock specializes in Goth-type and punk-type boots. These boots are armed to the hilt with studs, buckles, and a whole lot of toughness. Surely not the kind of shoes that will get you compliments like "cute shoes" or anything. Their shoes will give both males and females a heavy dosage of toughness. Their feminine offerings do offer some shoes with stiletto heels, so they aren't TOO far off the girly path. Yet still, these are not anything adorable. They have been around since 1978.

Buffalo (German only).

As a specialist in platform shoes, Germany's Buffalo features many different shoes for males and females. They even have a collection of their classic shoes. Their Buffalo Classics are namely some of the platform sneakers and boots that have given Buffalo their popularity. Buffalo only services from their online shop to Germany, Austria, and France.

YRU.

Making shoes for both men and women, YRU makes mostly platform shoes as unique as those who wear them. I came across YRU when a girl I am Fanned with on LOOKBOOK wore one of their shoes- the QOZMO sneakers.

Z-CoiL.

Z-CoiL is the maker of the original spring-loaded shoes. They have been around since 1995. Their shoes are to help reduce pain to one's feet, knees, legs, and back when walking.

These are among several other different alternative footwear companies.

--- Alternative Footwear: Blogging Influence ---

Don't expect too many influences here. However, here are a few bloggers sporting certain alternative-type footwear:

• "NYFW DAY TWO: Rainbow Space Alien" (Velvet Cigarette) « silver glitter platform wedge boots.
• "FASHION WEEK DAY 4: GET CAKE" (Velvet Cigarette) « white platform wedge boots.
• "http://www.style2bones.com/2013/12/fashion-not-for-faint-of-heart.html" (style2bones) « wedge creepers from an alternative footwear brand.

• Demonia shoes on LOOKBOOK « Demonia shoes on LOOKBOOK.
• Pleaser shoes on LOOKBOOK « Pleaser shoes on LOOKBOOK.
• TUK shoes on LOOKBOOK « TUK shoes on LOOKBOOK.

These are only a few examples of tough shoes worn by alternative footwear companies. Maybe I'll feature a few more blog posts. I just don't follow such tough and edgy fashions too much. For someone trying to incorporate multiple kinds of fashion into one blog, it doesn't mean I actively follow different kinds of fashion and discuss them all with total professionalism and mastery of skill.

--- Alternative Footwear: Final Thoughts ---

If people care to express themselves, a lot of alternative-type footwear can help in this department. Certain hard and edgy shoes can provide many ways to toughen up outfits. Also take into account females who take girly-girl looks and offer unworldly toughness by wearing something like any of the tough boots I shown you all earlier. On the other end, there are more alternative footwear options for sexy types. These are shoes mostly worn by certain models for steamy photoshoots, for nightclub wear, or of course... streetwalkers (whatever these translate to in your culture, such as "slags").

The main point to grasp from all of this is that each of these alternative footwear designs were made specifically for those who want to express themselves in unique ways with shoes most mainstream designers simply can't provide. Their uniqueness help such shoes to be the kinds of shoes people want to express themselves with and be seen in. While you may not particularly like any of the examples I have provided, remember that some people can't stand out too much with mostly mainstream clothing and always following certain mainstream trends. You don't have to wear such alternative footwear, but the option is certainly there if you want to stand out a bit more than how you normally want to stand out.

While I didn't focus too much on them, there are some kinds of alternative footwear better suited and tailored towards certain people outside of alternative lifestyles. You may one or more posts regarding the alternative-style footwear I didn't mention- such as the Z-CoiL shoes I made mention to earlier.

Halloween

John B. Marine | 2:36 PM | | | | | | | 1 Comment so far
Halloween may be the most fashionable time of year. It is a time of year where some people ponder hard about what they want to be each year. Some go for the most unique costumes. Some others take it a bit further with makeup and other touches. No matter what, Halloween is very much a time to be as creative as you want. This blog post is not any sort of personal suggestions post. Instead, this is just a general digest on Halloween.

Usually when I do posts on "StyleSpace by JBM," my intent is to avoid costumes and costume items. Most of what I post is about real fashions for real people. Some of my past blog posts mostly involved costume-like garments as I tried to put some of my posts together using various examples from other sources. This is one of those posts where costumes are fair game since Halloween is being discussed.

About the Label: "Costumes"

Blog posts that feature costumes are under this label. I usually don't feature anything of any costume nature on "StyleSpace by JBM" because I mostly focus on real fashion for real people. Topics under the "Costumes" label mostly feature costumes and insight on costumes and costume-like outfits.

--- Halloween ---

Halloween is about more than just candy, tricks and treats, and scaring people. Most people just see Halloween as a day to just have fun and dress up a certain way. Think of just one day out of the year where you can dress up to be almost anything you want. So is the appeal of Halloween. Many people have ideas as to how to dress up themselves or their children. Some people often times struggle trying to find out what they want to dress up as for Halloween. No matter what, Halloween can be a fun time to dress up for any number of people.

Dressing for Halloween, however, can involve much more than just costumes. Some even take things a step further with certain makeup and other beauty touches. Here are two perspectives on Halloween dressing...

Halloween: Costumes.

Do you know what you want to be for Halloween? Do you know what you want your children to be for Halloween (if you have children)? There are a variety of costumes for all walks of life ranging from babies to full-grown adults. What does it take to look cool for Halloween? It depends. What kind of statement do you want to make? People whom have enjoyed dressing up for Halloween many times before often times don't know what they want to dress up as for the upcoming Halloween. If you enjoy this holiday, you're always looking for fun outfits and ways to enjoy dressing up for Halloween.

Halloween: Beauty.

While Halloween is about costumes, it isn't about just costumes. In fact, certain touches to your appearance and to your outfit can add that extra bit of style to your Halloween costume. There are elements such as hair, makeup, accessories, and more that will help add some extra style to your Halloween outfit. It is all about finding and wearing outfits that are going to embrace and exhibit whatever you are going for in Halloween. There are items such as face paints and various other items to help enhance your looks for Halloween.

Once you think about what you want to be and how you want to present yourself, the next thing is to simply put your outfit together and go have fun!

--- Halloween: Final Thoughts ---

I hope all of you have a happy and safe Halloween for when Halloween rolls around. Use this opportunity to have fun dressing up and styling yourself up to look and feel your best. Be sure to have an awesome outfit for whatever you want to be for this Halloween. Remember- you put in the time and effort to think about what kind of outfit or anything to dress up for Halloween as. Go enjoy this experience and be safe. Also, go enjoy that candy that people treat you with! :)

--- In Case You Wonder About Me... (Bonus Section!) ---

In case you ask what I will be for Halloween, I will be... myself. Sort of a personal story is that Halloween has been a time where some of my worst moments and worst memories have happened. These usually bring back some negative memories for me personally. Some of those memories include things like being suspended for fighting, my final day as a student at one university, doing poorly on an assignment for college, and stuff like that. Friends of mine were born on Halloween. So while Halloween is a fun time, I don't usually look forward to Halloween often times with the same sort of happiness most other people do. Also, I just don't really celebrate Halloween in the sense of dressing up. So I am always one thing for Halloween- myself.

Sorry to disappoint any of my readers if you're expecting to see me go out in some sort of way in some kind of Halloween costume. While I may not share the same sort of happiness for Halloween, that shouldn't stop you from enjoying Halloween however you choose.

--- Halloween Resources ---

I have mostly discussed Halloween costumes here. If you are looking for some costume inspirations or whatever, I have these items below for you. I don't know what you want to be or how you parents reading this post want to dress your kids. So because I don't know, I'll leave it up to you to find something to help you out. Crosses

John B. Marine | 9:00 PM | | | | | | | | | 3 Comments so far
(UPDATED: August 19, 2013)

I can tolerate crosses, unlike skulls. Many people wear crosses either to show faith or to go with some edgy rocker-type outfit. Crosses have been one of the latest fashion statements of the past few years. However you sport crosses (if you do), there is something to love about the trend of crosses. This blog post is my own sort of look at the trend of crosses. What does wearing a cross or multiple crosses mean to you? What kind of impact do you think they offer?

Welcome to another post here on the stylish space of my blogging universe- "StyleSpace, by John B. Marine!"

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

AUG 19 2013 - added/edited a link in the blogging inspirations

--- Crosses in Fashion ---

Crosses are usually worn for one of two reasons. Some wear crosses to exude rock-type chic and edge. Some others wear crosses for show faith. There are religious and rocker reasons, then, for wearing crosses. The fashion crowd will likely side with crosses for edgy rock chic. I am not crazy over crosses, but I can very much tolerate crosses unlike most skulls. Maybe it's the faith aspect or whatever. Not that I am incredibly educated in religion, but I am a Christian.

Let me share something posted by one of my blogging friends regarding crosses as a trend. This will provide a little extra insight on wearing crosses as a fashion statement:

" This print seems to be controversial, because of its deep symbolic meaning. What does the upside down cross mean? Historically, it is the cross of St. Peter or Simon Peter. Peter was one of the original 12 apostles that followed Jesus Christ. When Peter was sentenced to death by the Emperor, he requested to be hung upside down. Peter felt that he was not worthy to die in the same manner as Jesus Christ did which was on a cross right side up.

...It's edgy, it's rock chic and really classy."

-Agnieszka (better known as "Aga") of "Aga's suitcase"

To read more of her post and for her own cross-laden look, you are invited to read this post: How to wear it ? - Cross trend (Aga's suitcase). This link will appear again later in this post.

I am not anyone educated or indulged in rock music, so I can't speak to the level of toughness and edginess of crosses. Crosses surely provide some edge. Crosses- like stars- can have a great edgy impact to an outfit if done a certain way. Some wear crosses for faith or to express faith. The reasons vary, but crosses are very much their own trend and their own style.

I hope this gives you all some insight on crosses.

--- Cross Examples ---

How about I cross your mind with some cross examples? I had a tough time trying to find examples from some other sites, so I mostly stuck to Amazon. The important thing is in educating my audience... so here goes:

cross tank
^ from: www.amazon.com - This tank top has a big cross made out of many studs.

cross blouse
^ from: www.amazon.com - This is a dolman sleeve blouse with a sparkly cross design.

cross leggings
^ from: www.amazon.com - Show some serious rock edge by rocking a pair of cross-adorned leggings.

cross heel pumps
^ from: www.amazon.com - Stilettos with crosses.

cross jeans
^ from: www.amazon.com - These jeans have a cross design on the back pockets.

multiple crosses
^ from: www.amazon.com - Multiple artistic crosses adorn this men's T-shirt.

big artistic cross
^ from: www.amazon.com - This hoodie has a huge cross on it designed artistically with angel wings on it.

cross necklace
^ from: www.barneys.com - Loads of crosses adorn this necklace.

dove and cross bag
^ from: www.amazon.com - This tote features a dove and cross.

There are many ways to sport crosses, as you can see from this section.

--- Crosses Around the Internet ---

If you're a fashion blogger, if you wear something relevant to topics I discuss, and if I find your post... you might end up here with a link from my blog to yours. This section about crosses is no different. So here are bloggers who wear some kind of cross item or items (some may appear more than once):

• How to wear it ? - Cross trend (Aga's suitcase) « a button-down shirt with many crosses on it.
• "Mani(c) Monday: White Nails" (mioprincesslovespink!) « a cross ring.
• "THIS TRIBAL SWEATER MAKES ME WANT TO ROCK" (Haute and Rebellious Blog) « multiple cross accessories worn.
• "CROSS YOUR TEES AND DOT YOUR EYES - NEW AT WWW.HAUTEANDREBELLIOUS.COM" (Haute and Rebellious Blog) « a high-low/mullet tank dress with a huge cross.
• "cross my heart" (indie.electronic.alternative) « a cross bracelet.
• "Cross" (.a little princess.) « a cross necklace.
• "The Patchwork" (Song of Style) « a cross ring and a cross bracelet.
• "DARK RIDING HOOD" (Art In Our Blood) « a black shirt with a gold cross pattern.
• "GENEVA" (Art In Our Blood) « a Baroque cross-adorned skirt.
• (untitled post) (NORMALNAYA) « a sweater with golden crosses.
• "GIRL DIVISION" (BORNTOBOTHERYOU) « cross necklace and cross shirt.
• "Blue Pants" (Miss Kassandra Brooks) « cross bracelet.
• "REMIX: ombré denim shorts..." (Nany's Klozet) « cross necklace.

• "cross" on LOOKBOOK
• "cross" on Chictopia

The focus was mostly on trying to find crosses in certain outfits. Unfortunately, just looking for "cross" can also mean for things like cross body handbags... which is NOT relevant to this blog post's topic.

--- Crosses: Final Thoughts ---

While I am not crazy over crosses, I've tolerated these more than I have most skull outfits. Some people wear crosses for any number of reasons ranging from edgy rock chic to showing some faith. Crosses are very much on point as a trend for many people who have something with a cross to them. If you like crosses, you are free to think however you please on crosses. Just proudly wear these cross-adorned clothes and shoes as you do your other items if you love crosses.

Cross-Promotion/Other Reading.

Check out some more topics somewhat in the same category as this one you just read. Take a look at these past blog posts if you haven't already and if you enjoyed your time here:

"Skulls" (StyleSpace by JBM)
^ Most of you know how I feel about skulls in fashion. If not, please have a look at my blog post here.

"Studs and Spikes" (StyleSpace by JBM)
^ Crosses can be designs as studs. More about studs and spikes can be read here in this post.

"Tattoos and Piercings" (StyleSpace by JBM)
^ Some people have crosses as tattoos. Why not check out my post on tattoos and piercings to learn more?

That concludes the majority of this post on crosses.

--- Crosses Online ---

Normally, I try to offer as many different items for you all in case you want to look around online for relevant items based on a topic I post. But because I've had such poor luck finding appropriate items, I will only showcase these items below for this section. Remember that your involvement in shopping for items is voluntary- meaning you don't have to do so if you don't want to. What is most important in these situations is to offer as much relevant content as possible and as many different options as possible. Otherwise, I don't feature links to other sites. So take these, or leave them:

That's all from me. Happy shopping!

What do you think about crosses? Do you admire them more for edge or for religious-type reasons? I am glad you were able to find this post on "StyleSpace by JBM." And for that, let me thank you for reading!

Why So Mean?

John B. Marine | 1:33 PM | | | | 2 Comments so far
Fashion is one way to express yourself without saying anything. Some people wear fun novelty T-shirts with funny messages. One thing I've never understood is... why so mean? You know, some garments have mean (and even vulgar) messages or images on them. It all makes me wonder why even present yourself in this sort of way with these sorts of clothes. Keep in mind- I understand the comical aspect of various sarcastic T-shirts. I get that. However, what I don't understand is what would get somebody to wear some clothing with really offensive and/or hateful material on them. This blog post is a commentary piece where I simply ask... why so mean?

WARNING: Some material in this blog post may not be suitable for all audiences. Namely, some vulgar language.

--- Why So Mean? ---

Musical influence (click to see YouTube video): "Mean" by Taylor Swift

Mean messages. Vulgar language. Middle fingers. Sure- not everybody dresses pretty and cute. But at the same time, I never really grasped why one would express themselves in such foul ways. I don't know... I feel like certain things I'd wear would send either the wrong message about myself or would get me to not be as liked among others. I am more of an old-fashioned kind of person. So I don't wear any sort of offensive (even if comical) clothing in my wardrobe. I also don't have any mean message pictures in any of my online accounts.

I am a positive person! ^_^

One such place to look around online for mean message material is usually LOOKBOOK, where some people post outfits with vulgar language or with any objectionable content. Some outfits- especially among girls on LOOKBOOK- have some stylish outfits... only to be offset by something offensive or vulgar. Like one outfit (I'm leaving peoples' names undisclosed) had a cute-looking and charming outfit, but the collar of her blouse had "F***" on one side and "you" on the other side. Sometimes, this is almost like the moment I see a skull design or skull accessory as part of someone's outfit- an instant turn-off. I could mostly remember in the mid and late 2000s of girls wearing message shirts with messages like "If I throw you a stick, will you leave?" and "boys are stupid... throw rocks at them." While fashion is expression, I just don't dig mean message or vulgar language material in fashion. Do you really need to wear something hateful or mean? Yeah- it's just clothes, but I would think you'd have to have some kind of respect and not present yourself as anti-social.

So now that you have some insight on what I am discussing, how about I take things further with a look at various examples? That's where the next section comes in.

--- Why So Mean? Examples ---

I apologize for any bad language that may be featured in these pictures and examples. Take a look (I will replace any images and make any edits in case I am unable to use them (for copyright reasons)):

mean funny tee shirt
^ from: www.amazon.com - This shirt says "My imaginary friend thinks you have serious mental problems." It is a novelty T-shirt, but why so mean?

sarcastic message women
^ from: www.amazon.com - Another novelty T-shirt, but with a sarcastic message I disagree with involving females.

my mom says I'm pretty so fuck you
^ from: kyoustuff.pl - My mom says I'm pretty, so... you can read the rest of the message. It's nice your mother says you're pretty, but... do you have to curse out people you don't know? Why so mean?

fuck off blouse
^ from: www.blackstitch.com - Australian designer Black Stitch created this sleeveless blouse. It may be cute and stylish to wear from the outset, until you see the "f*** off" on the collar.

IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED... Find out how one blogger styled this shirt by looking at this blog post: "Imma end this now before things confuse you" (style2bones)

Now for some more blogging insight.

• Here is a little sarcasm. Leandra Medine (better known as "The Man Repeller") famously wore a shirt saying "All bloggers post the same stuff." You can see that post here among one of her many outfits in this post: "The What I Wores" (Man Repeller).

• A Polish designer called K YOU is famous for making some message clothing and accessories with bad language. One of their offerings has a message of "My mom says I'm pretty so f*** you," just like I mentioned earlier in this section. Here are some of their many offerings (English version): K YOU.

• (untitled post) (NORMALNAYA) « a dress with pixelated middle fingers.

Again- why so mean? I don't get it.

--- Why So Mean? Final Thoughts ---

I know there is a comical aspect of this. I know there are people who actually wouldn't lower themselves to being so antisocial towards others by wearing these items. My only problem is just that I've never understood why be so mean towards others through the means of fashion. I don't have a "mad at the world" mentality to where I have to exhibit that mindset into my fashion and into my social media.

This is why I try to post on various aspects of fashion; not just on certain things in fashion I like. As much as there are fashion bloggers who try out certain fashions and trends they aren't even comfortable with, I often try to incorporate many things about fashion into my discussions because the average person who loves fashion and visits "StyleSpace by JBM" would want the "anything and everything" focus on fashion. That even includes people who prefer and love vulgar language and skulls and stuff. So I have to cater to and address such things.

But let me ask one more time... why so mean? What have I (or anyone else) ever done to you?

Why so mean? This concludes another unique blog post here on "StyleSpace by JBM." What do you think about all of this? Thank you for reading!

Combat Boots

John B. Marine | 9:45 PM | | | | | | 2 Comments so far
(UPDATED: August 18, 2013)

Ready to fight? It's go time! Combat boots offer toughness and character that almost no other kind of shoes can offer. Males enjoy a wicked pair of combat boots to compliment their style. Females wear such boots to toughen up girly looks or to simply dress tough. For many people, there are nothing like military-type combat boots. Many others usually look to Dr. Martens for tough combat boots. No matter what, there are a pair of combat boots to suit your style. This blog post is about combat boots- the real kind and of the softer variety.

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

AUG 18 2013 - added some more inspirations

--- Combat Boots ---

Combat boots are fairly unisex for the most part. They exude a cool factor that is equal for both males and female. There is nothing "cute" about even the most feminine looks for combat boots. Even feminine combat boots adorned with floral prints or hearts are still fairly tough despite any cutesy designs. Combat boots usually are reserved for soldiers as part of their uniform. They need a tough and rugged pair of shoes while in combat or in some other roles. Among us fashionable types, many seek any sort of garments or items to bring toughness into our own style. So enter fashion combat boots.

At their heart, combat boots are tall lace-up boots with a rugged profile. They instantly exude character to people and to their outfits. Most people often associate combat boots with the Goth and punk crowds. Some even associate them with females trying to be tough or trying to toughen up otherwise cute looks.

Combat Boots - Male.

The guy looking to battle would find comfort in a pair of combat boots. For males, a pair of combat boots is usually complimented by some jeans or some shorts. There are some males who may tuck in jean legs into a pair of combat boots. The boots-tucked-into-jeans look isn't as common for males as it is for females, though; but the look is done. Combat boots are very common among most Goth and punk style males.

Combat Boots - Female.

It's rare I do this, but here is a bit of music to get you in the mood for my female audience to get into combat boots. Click on the link below to listen on YouTube:

Musical influence: "Battlefield," by Jordin Sparks

I just thought it was cool to maybe offer some music to help spice up my topics. Anyhow, moving on...

Most girls who wear combat boots either tuck them into jeans or downplay girly looks. For example, you may commonly see a cute dress worn with a tough pair of combat boots. Almost as if a girl NEEDS to look tough or needs to avoid being too cute. A nice touch loved by some females who wear combat boots are certain designs and patterns on the inside of the shaft of the combat boots. The shaft of some combat boots can be folded down to show some of the interior for a girly touch to a tough pair of shoes. The most common combat boot looks for females usually are with skirts and dresses. I commonly see dresses paired with combat boots. They can also be styled with jeans for a tough jeans-tucked-into-boots look. Some others will even pair combat boots with shorts or even paired with tights (opaque and fishnet varieties).

So combat boots will do the trick in offering up a degree of toughness for a certain outfit. Of course, I always believe anyone should dress however they please. If you don't want to wear something tough because you feel you have to, then just stay with a certain theme and don't ruin it. If you want to go head-to-toe cute and girly, don't be under any pressure to toughen up if you don't want to. Just wear clothing the way you feel most comfortable and what you feel exudes your character the most.

There is your insight on combat boots. Time to move further.

--- Combat Boots: Final Thoughts ---

Combat boots are all about toughness with their rugged profile. Anyone looking to toughen up and show some character can do so wearing a pair of combat boots. Any time is a good time to be ready for battle. If you want to talk fashion with combat boots, be your own fashion soldier and lead your own charge against whomever gets in your way.

I am in no way crazy over combat boots. However, I don't hate them, and I wouldn't recommend any sort of outfits to be paired best with combat boots. It is your call if you want to rock these boots as part of your wardrobe and as part of your outfits. Wear combat boots proudly with your outfits and with your style.
