The Snowkini Trend

John B. Marine | 9:52 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
Swimwear in the cold- would you try it? Normally, you wear swimwear when it's hot. A recent trend of swimwear when it's cold is questionable. To fashionistas, "how do you look stay warm in the cold? Look hotter!" Some have referred to this trend of swimwear in cold weather as the "snowkini trend." So for this blog post, I want to focus in on this trend. Would any of you fashionistas dare try this? Do you think this is cool or silly? I'll discuss as I go along.

Snowkini Trend

Warm weather usually means a love of wearing shorts, sandals, and swimwear. Such clothing usually help fashionistas stay cool and look cute when it's warm or hot. The last thing one wants to do is wear less clothing or light clothing on cool or cold days. There was one time where the Houston area had high temperature of 37°F, and one young woman I saw at a Wal-Mart wore a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flop/thong sandals. Think that's insane? Well, try wearing swimwear when it's cold. This is something that took the likes of Instagram and TikTok by storm. Enter the realm of the "Snowkini" trend, as demonstrated with the only decent image I could find to demonstrate this style:

snowkini trend
^ from: (NeoAdviser - best image I could find) - The "snowkini" trend brings swimsuits to the snow. Don't forget a super warm pair of boots also.

The "snowkini" trend is a fashion trend of wearing swimwear out in cool or cold weather. Think showing up at the ski resort or Winter resort by wearing your favorite swimwear along with some cold weather boots. No fashionista would dare wear any sort of swimwear when temperatures are cold and out in the cold. For some, there is a level of hotness for rocking swimwear out in the cold. The combination of a stylish bikini paired with some sort of cold weather boots can be pretty hot despite the cold. Swimsuits can also be a showcase of one's appealing looks when wearing such appealing swimwear ranging from one-piece swimwear to bikinis. However, you do risk putting your body temperature out of whack when trying this trend. Celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and India Reynolds are among the celebrity influencers of the "snowkini" trend.

Now one time, I've seen a video where some woman wore a bikini along with some sheepskin boots. While a popular pair of boots in cold weather, sheepskin boots like from UGG Australia or EMU Australia were originally meant to keep feet and ankles warm for cool or cold days at the beach. So it is not foreign to want to wear such boots when it is cold. What is foreign, however, is to expose your body on cold days with either light clothing or with little clothing.

The "Snowkini" Trend: Elements.

Upon my research of this topic, there are basically two elements towards the "snowkini" trend- any sort of swimwear and some cold weather boots. So imagine your coolest/cutest/hottest bikini paired with some cold weather-style boots. You're basically set on this front. Optional to this trend is some sort of cold weather hat or cold weather cap. Also optional is a warm weather coat. The main appeal of this trend is to parade around in piles of snow in your bikini.

Cold weather boots to go with swimwear usually is with a pair of moon boots. Alternatively, a tall pair of furry boots also will suffice. Or if all else fails... go with your cutest pair of sheepskin boots.

How about I offer some thoughts on this trend? Go to the next section.

The Snowkini Trend: Final Thoughts

No way would I endorse or promote wearing a bikini on a cold day. It's a wild and bold fashion style to try out. I am not going to say I hate the trend. Though, I will say it is one of the most daring and most outrageous fashion trends to try. I've seen fashionistas wear cropped tops in cold and/or snowy conditions, but that is nowhere near as wild as wearing swimsuits in cold and snowy locations. If you are that daring a fashionista, more power to you; but I'd save the swimsuits either for saunas or for warm weather.

Havaianas

John B. Marine | 9:42 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
Flip-flop/thong sandals are what most know Brazilian designer Havaianas for. Considering lots of people have at least one pair of such sandals, it's best I discuss Havaianas' footwear here. You may even find something different about this designer. I will be featuring Havaianas here for your pleasure. Hope you enjoy this post!

Brand Disclaimer.

All of my posts regarding certain brands and designers are provided on personal opinion. I am not sponsored or paid to mention such makes, and all commentary is my own. This is not a sponsored or paid blog post. I didn't make this post (or any other) at the request of any certain designer.

Havaianas

Let's get this one started!

Havianas flip-flop/thong sandals
^ from: gobrazil.about.com - Here is a rainbow of Havianas flip-flop/thong sandals.

Havaianas lay claim to being the originator of flip-flop/thong sandals. The first of such sandals from this Brazilian designer originated in 1962 by a Scottish man named Robert Fraser. You surely can't go one day out in public and not see at least one pair of flip-flop/thong sandals of some kind. You may see such sandals from other brands and designers, but it all began with Havaianas. They have offerings for males and females of all ages. Havaianas even come in various collections. Since this is a Brazilian company, their measurements will be much different from the ones you may be accustomed to. So you may need to have some conversions done in case you want to buy their footwear for your feet.

These sandals from Havaianas come in many different colors and designs. Mostly, the usual flat-bottoms with the thong support is what you will get. Nothing too out of the norm from this designer is offered. Besides flip-flop/thong sandals, they also have other kinds of shoes they offer. They also offer espadrilles and rain boots. All items are offered in the same colorful style with a host of colors and patterns. They even offer things like key chains, totes, and even smartphone covers.

Here is some insight on Havaianas. Check this out (WARNING: only in Portuguese):

^ "Havaianas - Adivinho com Susana Vieira"

So as you're trying to find some comfortable shoes to slip on either around the house or even for outfits and you wear flip-flop/thong sandals, be sure to thank Havaianas for providing sandals that are worn as religiously as jeans. Considering so many different designers (including no-name brands) have made their own flip-flop/thong sandals, it is surprising Havaianas doesn't have a stronger presence than it probably should. Think about it for a moment. You'll mostly see Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes, Dr. Martens combat boots, and UGG sheepskin boots; but you rarely see Havaianas footwear much. I think only a few times have I seen Havianas in magazine ads. Perhaps this company has a stronger presence elsewhere, but I just find it a bit odd I don't see too many Havaianas flip-flop/thong sandals as much as I've seen common shoes from common designers.

Bikini Bodies

John B. Marine | 9:53 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
#NationalBikiniDay has me thinking of bikini bodies. To some, the "bikini body" is overrated. Today's culture even accepts petite and curvy figures in bikinis. A bikini is surely empowering and enticing to wear and be seen in. Among mainstream society, only slender types should wear bikinis and be seen in bikinis. So in other words, most petites and especially curvy females shouldn't (at least in terms of mainstream society) be wearing bikinis because they don't have "bikini bodies." As we say, though- "real women have curves." Not every female has a body like Candice Swanepoel (my favorite Victoria's Secret Angel) or somebody. What is most important here is in looking and feeling confident in what you wear. And in this case, looking and feeling beautiful in a bikini.

Let's look at two cases of bikini bodies to prove different points.

Bikini Bodies: Petite.

Petites already face the challenge of looking for finding clothing that elongates their figure as well as not having certain bikinis overwhelm their frame. Also of note are bikini tops that properly cover petites who may have small breasts. Unless a certain petite thinks she is stumpy or not have such an excellent physique, petites often struggle having that "bikini body" that most average types have. For a little insight on bikinis for petites, I found this website. Take a look: How To Find The Right Swimsuit For A Petite Figure (Bella Petite Magazine)

Bikini Bodies: Curvy.

There is a reason why people cringe at the notion of a curvy female in a bikini. People feel sickened in the stomach seeing a female with much more body fat than most average people wearing a bikini. Totally rude and bigoted people would say that anyone with just extra body fat are walking diabetes or something. And because of this, the notion of having biknis for plus-sized females is laughable and confounding to such people.

One thing I have thought long and hard about in doing fashion blog posts is wondering about challenges in fashion. One of them is in plus-size fashion, especially in the case of, "do I try to lose weight to fit in certain outfits for more slender types, or do I try to find great-fitting and great-looking clothes to fit my current body?" Some plus-size females actually do become motivated to try to lose weight to fit into some clothes made for most average bodies. But for the most part, a lot of plus-size females are more trying to look and feel cute with their own bodies and with clothing to compliment them well.

The most important elements of a bikini for a curvy figure is in trying to hold in and support your body well. A big help in silhouettes is in wearing high waist bikini bottoms. High-waist bikinis is something you may want to consider if concerned about your midsection in a bikini. If you feel high-waist bikinis don't look good, you'd actually be surprised at how lovely can look in a high-waist bikini. Even slender types wear them! High-waist bikinis also are stylish among vintage and pin-up types. So don't overlook them if you are curvy. If you are the more daring curvy type,

If you have such a negative opinion about curvy females in bikinis or get easily disgusted at seeing a curvy female in a bikini, then DO NOT watch this video below. I want to demonstrate that you can be curvy and still look and feel fabulous in a bikini. Meet the beautiful Loey Lane (or "Loeybug") as she showcases some swimwear:

^ Swimwear Haul & Try-On | 2016

Bikini Bodies: Petite AND Curvy?

What if you're short-statured AND have a curvy body? To some people, you CERTAINLY don't have a bikini body according to many people. However, bikinis for curvy petite types are not taboo.

The only person I know of best to demonstrate curvy petite style is my blogging friend Cassandra of "Style Cassentials." I picked out this blog post to show you that you can be curvy and petite and still look great in a bikini. Take a look:UNCONDITIONAL BODY BEAUTIFUL - PART 6: BODY HAIR (Style Cassentials)

Bikini Bodies: Pregnant.

Even pregnant females want to look their best wearing a bikini. It is best to consider your body type and find a more than decent bikini to feel comfortable in even as you are due to give birth. One option for pregnant females is high-waist bikini bottoms made for pregnant bellies.

Thanks for viewing this blog post. But before I close this one out, let me offer some final thoughts.

Bikini Bodies: Final Thoughts

Amid what mainstream society may think, ANY female can be confident in wearing a bikini. Wearing a bikini should be as empowering as wearing the most beautiful and most feminine of dresses. Society just has a way of thinking only females with absolutely fit bodies can sport bikinis. However in recent times, people have been more accepting of various body styles, including (and especially) curvy figures. The "bikini body" is really overrated to a lot of people. With options that provide great coverage and exceptional style, almost ANY body is beautiful enough to sport a bikini. That's right- I said it. EVERY body is a bikini body. Now go rock a bikini already, fashionistas of the world!

I may update this post with some more content if I feel I can offer more insight.

Tribal Prints

John B. Marine | 10:46 PM | | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
Tribal (or ethnic) prints have trended for the longest. They offer unique colorful prints to compliment a number of different outfits. They provide unique edginess as well as a smattering of color. Everything from intimates to dresses (and even footwear) can be adorned with tribal prints of some kind. For the most part, tribal prints have become a go-to style for warm weather fashion, and many a fashionista have been awed over the styling touch tribal prints provide. When it comes to tribal prints, you will mostly see feminine pieces with wild and intricate tribal prints, mostly with bottoms and dresses. Some tribal tops are worn, and you may even see tribal print rompers/playsuits. Tribal prints even can be found on footwear. I've seen wedge sandals that have tribal prints to them, for example.

The only real problem (if any) in regards to tribal prints is the feeling of certain Indian tribes being disgraced seeing such prints featured. In fact, there was one time in which Coach had a controversial marketing campaign called "A Tribe Called Coach." A number of their wares was considered offensive to certain Native American tribes, including a red skull from one of their bracelets. The outrage led some people to think Coach could give back to Native American communities and tribes instead of trying to financially profit from certain Native American communities.

IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED: You can read more about Coach's controversial "A Tribe Called Coach" line from this article: Native Americans insulted by Coach handbags’ ‘Tribe Called Coach’ collection.

--- Tribal Prints: Final Thoughts ---

As a styling exercise, I haven't any problem with tribal prints. I don't find them as any sort of fashion faux pas. Only thing I would probably discourage is trying to combine more than one set of tribal prints. So for example, go with only one tribal print item to serve as your tribal print piece. Don't try to do any pattern clashing or anything. Tribal prints offer a great base of style. The uniquely edgy style of tribal print makes them wearable and fashionable for any number of applications. Don't think this styling exercise can only be for things like music festivals. If you're daring, try going with any number of tribal print garments and accessories for any number of situations or styles. You will not disappoint as long as you have a great eye for style by trying to style tribal prints.

The main discussion points have been made in this blog post. You may take part in the next section, or skip it entirely. Your call.

High-Waist Bikinis

John B. Marine | 6:24 PM | | | 4 Comments so far
Having a "bikini body" is always confident and encouraging. While regular bikinis are often praised and romanticized, high-waist bikinis often aren't as loved. This blog post is an offshoot of my blog post on swimsuits as I focus on high-waist bikinis. Thoughts on high-waist bikinis will be expressed here. I also invite my readers to offer their thoughts on these bikinis even as I showcase and comment on high-waist bikinis.

--- High-Waist Bikinis at a Glance ---

Let me show you a high-waist bikini set before I provide commentary:

high-waist bikini
^ from: www.amazon.com - Are high-waist bikinis as hot as their non high-waist counterparts? Some think so; many others do not.

There is a reason why high-waist bikinis are liked among certain females. Actually, two. Here are those two reasons why I think high-waist bikinis are so well-liked:

Reason 1: Retro Appeal.

The first reason why I think high-waist bikinis are loved is because of the retro appeal they provide. A lot of high-waist bikinis have kind of a retro appeal loved by various females who love vintage outfits. Since these are more older-style bikinis, they are a touch more modest with the higher waist as opposed to bikinis that don't have high waists. You could think of these bikinis as being more modest than most of the sexy/flirty bikinis.

Reason 2: Body Confidence.

The other reason why high-waist bikinis are so loved are because they give more confidence to give some females in wearing a bikini. Not as many are confident to wear a bikini. Some females aren't as comfortable showing their navel or their waistline in a bikini. Because high-waist bikinis cover up a lot of one's lower waist, they offer some comfort. They can also offer slimming of the lower body by simply wearing these high-waist bikini bottoms. In case you detest high-waist bikinis for this reason, just remember that comfort is always a factor in any sense regarding fashion, and high-waist bikinis offer comfort for those seeking such comfort when wearing such beachwear.

Given these two reasons, I think high-waist bikinis are so liked among certain fashionable types for them being stylish enough to wear as a one-piece swimsuit. Such high-waist bikinis are stylish enough to wear like one-piece swimsuits, but also offer the appeal provided by showing some midriff, but without showing too much midriff. They also provide a slimming effect for those not as confident of showing off their navel or lower waist. It is this sort of comfort that makes them so loved by certain fashionistas.

It is now time I consider offering my thoughts on high-waist bikinis. I had intended to feature certain bloggers and personalities that wear high-waist bikinis, but I can't find enough to make a proper section on them. So up next are my thoughts on high-waist bikinis.

--- High-Waist Bikinis: Final Thoughts ---

While I would never recommend or consider high-waist bikini outfits, their comfort and style are very understandable. Many people will dislike high-waist bikinis because they aren't as sexy as any regular-waist bikinis or even any low-waist bikinis. This is much the same way there are those who dislike cropped tops with high-waist bottoms. Some who wear bikinis may wear some average bikini and just try on a high-waist bikini. Even if you look to high-waist bikinis in this sense, then you have to admit that even though these may not be the navel-baring, low-waist bikinis others lust over, there are qualities to high-waist bikinis that give them their appeal and their charm.

Again- I would not recommend or prefer any sort of high-waist bikini or high-waist bikini bottoms for any beachwear outfits. But for the level of comfort and their own unique sort of style, a high-waist bikini can be just as appealing as any average bikini. They may not be as sexy or appealing as an average bikini, but they are certainly a stylish way to soak up the sun or go to beach parties in. High-waist bikinis are definitely worth considering to structure your beach outfit(s).

TRIANGL

John B. Marine | 12:02 AM | | | | | 1 Comment so far
Australian designer TRIANGL has become popular lately among many a blogger and many a fashionista. They design both swimwear (mostly bikinis) and underwear. I figure to offer this blog post as a TRIANGL showcase featuring bloggers and other persons who wear these outfits from TRIANGL. No matter what, these items from TRIANGL are certainly popular.

Originally, I wanted this post only to discuss the famous swimwear from TRIANGL. However, I also realize they design underwear. I will mostly focus on the TRIANGL swimwear, but I may unintentionally make reference to or link to TRIANGL underwear.

To learn more about TRIANGL, visit: www.triangle.com/au. Select your region from that site.

--- TRIANGL at a Glance ---

Here is one of their many swimsuit designs:

TRIANGL swimwear and underwear
^ from: www.polyvore.com (best I could find) - TRIANGL has designed the latest "it" bikini and the latest "it" underwear to a lot of fashionistas today. The example in this picture is of their trendy swimwear.

It takes confidence to sport a bikini. Even more so to sport a very popular and trendy bikini. Same goes for their underwear. So is the case with TRIANGL. The designer of feminine-exclusive swimwear and underwear was founded in 2012 (according to the TRIANGL Facebook fan page).

TRIANGL Swimwear.

Somehow, these trendy bikinis have caught on with a variety of bloggers and fashion social networking media worldwide proudly wearing and showcasing their TRIANGL bikinis. The majority of these TRIANGL bikinis are mostly solid-colored pieces with black outlines and accents. A number of bloggers whom chatted about TRIANGL and their bikinis mention these bikinis as being comfortable as well as stylish. If a girl is going to go to the beach, to a beach party, or take part in a photo shoot while in a bikini; one would probably feel most comfortable in something of TRIANGL. Besides the popular style of TRIANGL bikinis, they also offer strapless bikini tops, halter bikini tops, and even some patterned bikinis.

TRIANGL Underwear.

TRIANGL underwear is also styled more like their swimwear. They make as colorful of underwear as their swimwear. Unlike their swimwear, the TRIANGL underwear offerings are mostly just the solid-colored items with black accents. Nothing along the lines of any patterned garments in regards to underwear. Still, the TRIANGL underwear offerings are every bit as fashionable as their swimwear.

Now that you know about this Australian designer, read on to see various bloggers proudly wear their TRIANGL outfits.

--- TRIANGL Showcase ---

The main point of this blog post was to showcase certain persons who wear TRIANGL swimsuits and TRIANGL underwear. So here in this section, this is your chance to see certain bloggers and other person wear these popular swimsuits. Follow their blogs if they interest you. Some bloggers may appear more than once:

• "Florals and triangles" (Trop Rouge) « under printed overalls, a black TRIANGL bikini.
• "TRIANGL." (tuolomee) « white TRIANGL swimsuit.
• "Wild Like the Deep Blue Sea" (Hapa Time) « blue swimsuit with black accents.
• "TRIANGL Underwear" (My Blonde Gal) « peach TRIANGL underwear set with black accents.
• "Mint Miami Triangl" (My Blonde Gal) « mint green TRIANGL bikini with black accents.
• "Triangl Bikini" (REINVENT YOURSELF) « silver TRIANGL top with black accents, Cobalt Blue TRIANGL bottom.
• "Get Ready for Summer" (REINVENT YOURSELF) « white TRIANGL bikini with black accents.
• "Triangl Swimwear - Dakota Superfly" (Primped and Primed) « strapless silver TRIANGL bikini top with black accents, peach TRIANGL bikini bottom.

There are probably many more bloggers and others who rock TRIANGL, but these are among the many that I'm aware of as I researched this topic.

--- TRIANGL: Final Thoughts ---

TRIANGL has designed a swimsuit and underwear that have caught on like wildfire among fashionable types. Does it mean that fashionistas have found something to love about these garments from the Australian designer that no other designer could match or better? As with any swimsuit (especially bikinis), it takes a lot of confidence in yourself and your looks to want to even wear a bikini. At least the ones I've featured were confident enough to sport such trendy bikinis.

As for what I think about the bikinis and underwear themselves, they are styled nicely. Perhaps TRIANGL could try various other color combinations, such as other solid colors and different other accents. For example, what about maybe a neon pink bikini with neon yellow accents? Or maybe design one to promote my online material by going with a Sapphire Blue (or something similar) with gold accents. :) TRIANGL has some other designs for their swimwear and their underwear. However, I mostly and initially wanted to feature their swimwear. That is until I learned of their similarly-styled underwear. Either way, TRIANGL has the "it" bikini (and maybe even the "it" underwear) for fashionistas today.

Rock your TRIANGL if you love their designs!

Bodysuits

John B. Marine | 12:59 PM | | | | 5 Comments so far
(UPDATED: March 22, 2023)

The one-piece appeal of bodysuits allows one to enjoy being covered up top and at the bottom. These can either be swimsuit-like bodysuits or bodysuit shirts and blouses. One is all or mostly covered depending on how the bodysuit is styled. If you fancy the bodysuits I am discussing, then you might like this blog post, which is all about bodysuits. Now before going any further, the discussion is on fashion bodysuits; NOT lingerie bodysuits or shapers. You will see what I mean as I go along with this post.

LATEST UPDATES/REVISIONS:

MAR 22 2023 - updated post, added widget

Bodysuits

Bodysuits are one-piece tops complete with a top portion and a bottom portion attached. They are more like (and I am not trying to be funny) onesies for grown-ups. Many think of leotards or something in regards to bodysuits. And of course, you have your '80s lovers who have fond memories of such one-piece leotard-type outfits. One of the advantages to wearing a bodysuit is that you don't have to worry about any kind of pulling down your top/shirt when leaning over backwards or something. Another comfortable advantage is in not providing any discomforting peek of your butt crack if bending over or leaning forward.

The comfort of wearing a one-piece item like a bodysuit lends itself to a number of ways to style them. Since you're covered (unless wearing some kind of skimpy bodysuit), one may likely go with some denim jean shorts or maybe some chic skirt. Some may even dare going to office environments pairing a bodysuit with some dressy pants or a dressy skirt.

Bodysuits in Pictures

How about I show you some pictures of the bodysuits I'm talking about? Take a look (hover mouse over the image to learn full name of product from each image source):

bodysuit T-shirt
^ from: www.amazon.com - This bodysuit is shaped and styled like a basic T-shirt. Only difference is that this is a one-piece top.

bodysuit
^ from: www.neimanmarcus.com - A bodysuit like this one can be worn comfortably as a top to compliment almost any sort of bottoms you wear with it.

jersey bodysuit
^ from: www.overstock.com - Here is another bodysuit that could likely be passed as a regular top tucked into some bottoms.

bodysuit shirt
^ from: www.victoriassecret.com (best I could find) - This bodysuit features a classy top with an attached lingerie bottom all in one garment.

Are you fashionistas daring enough for THIS bodysuit:

strapless bodysuit
^ from: www.shopbop.com - This strapless bodysuit is backless and with a very deep neckline.

Do you now see the ways a bodysuit can be styled? I actually had a tough time trying to find pictures for you all because most bodysuit images I found were either onesies that babies and toddlers wear, or they were lingerie and shapers.

Bodysuit Blogging Inspiration

A few fashionistas dared try wearing bodysuits as part of their outfits. I found these examples for you to showcase wearing a bodysuit as a top (NOTE: Some bloggers may appear more than once):

• "IMAGINATION!" (SerialKlother) « a black strapless bodysuit paired with a skirt and pumps.
• "Mermaid like" (Something Fashion) « a bodysuit with a stylish skirt and peep-toe pumps.
• "vedette giveaway" (Tuolomee) « bodysuit as part of a classy shorts outfit.
• "Denim & Stripes" (Native Fox) « a striped bodysuit with long sleeves.
• "Monochromatic Blush" (Native Fox) « a blush-colored bodysuit.
• "7 For All Mankind x Smashbox" (KARLA'S CLOSET) « a fierce outfit with a black bodysuit.
• "501s & Bodysuits" (KARLA'S CLOSET) « a white mesh bodysuit.
• "An Affair in Red Square" (Hapa Time) « a blouse bodysuit as part of a classy chic look.
• "Odd One Out" (Only the marvelous) « a black bodysuit worn with a black high-low skirt.
• (untitled post) (NORMALNAYA) « "Freak of Nature Day of the Dead" bodysuit with shorts.

If I find more, I may edit this post feature more bodysuit posts and outfits.

Bodysuits: Final Thoughts

It is very interesting how one can take a bodysuit and pair it with a number of different bottoms and some kind of outerwear. I've done a number of posts on different kinds of one-piece outfits- rompers/playsuits, jumpsuits, overalls/dungarees, and one-piece swimsuits. Bodysuits can be every bit as fashionable as any other sort of one-piece garment. Style them appropriately if you love them, fashionistas!

Cutouts

John B. Marine | 6:56 PM | | | | | 2 Comments so far
(UPDATED: August 24, 2013)

In just the right places, cutouts can provide dramatic appeal and alter the character of an outfit for the better. Or, they may destroy an otherwise perfectly fine outfit. Cutouts on garments and shoes provide unique touches to various outfits. Where the cutting out is done could make a garment better or worse. When it comes to cut outs in shoes, they can make certain average shoes take on a different character. This blog post is all about cut outs in garments and shoes.

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

AUG 24 2013 - added another blog post in the Inspirations section

--- Cutouts ---

Cut-outs offer peeks of skin while one wears such garments. You will usually see cut out tops and dresses. The individual cut outs offer plenty of feminine charm. These cut outs offer some seductive charm, especially for those not afraid to rock the look. Tops with cut outs usually offer some cold shoulders and peeks at one's arms. They can turn most basic tops into not-so basic tops. Primarily dressy blouses offer the best cut out appeal. A number of dresses can surely offer seductive appeal. Usually, dresses with cut outs elegantly show one's midriff. Such cut outs can be minimal or even have large cut outs. Cut outs can be huge in warm weather times as they allow for you to cool off a bit as your body is exposed in parts.

I often find cut outs to be chic on blouses and dresses. Floaty blouses with elegantly-cut shoulders and arms are often tremendously chic. Dresses with either exposed shoulders and arms are chic including those that allow for some midriff baring. Only the daring diva should try cut out garments and shoes. These take a great deal of confidence to wear.

As one would imagine, as much as cut outs can be stylish, they can also be trashy or slutty if done wrong and in the wrong places. Cut outs are elegant and need not be done in any sort of trashy manner. It is easy to overstep the boundaries of classy and trashy thanks to a poorly-designed cut outs on garments.

Cutouts for Garments.

Where cutouts can drastically change an outfit is usually with chic tops and dresses. Some dresses that really benefit from cutouts are those that allow for some skin to show. The one thing to be careful of is for certain cutouts to make a dress seem trampy and trashy. The same logic could also apply to certain tops.

Cutouts for Shoes.

Some shoes have various openings and cut outs to offer a different kind of character. What could have been a pair of ankle boots could have so many cutouts that they become sandals.

For a little more professional insight on cutouts, take a look a this: Cutout clothing for spring: exposing the right amount (Fashionising.com)

--- Cutouts in Pictures ---

Allow me to show off some cut out garments and footwear to show what I've explained so far. (NOTE: You may visit the sites where I got these images from in case you want to shop for certain items. The images do NOT link you to the exact product, but they do link you to where I got the images from. I will find replacement images in case I can't use certain images from certain sites.)

cutout blouse
^ from: www.shopbop.com - Show some shoulder with a hot cutout shoulder top like this blouse.

cutout dress
^ from: www.neimanmarcus.com - This dress has a slight cutout on its right side.

cutout tee shirt
^ from: shop.nordstrom.com - The most basic of T-shirts can even boast some unique character with cutouts.

cutout booties
^ from: www.neimanmarcus.com - A pair of booties can be like a pair of sandals with the right amount of cutouts.

cutout swimsuit
^ from: www.zappos.com - This one-piece swimsuit has multiple cutouts to be a unique swimsuit to wear on the beach or to beach parties.

Feeling frisky, fashionistas? How about some sexy cutouts like this one:

cutout club dress
^ from: www.rakuten.com - Be sexy with it! Nightclub dresses like this one offer hot cutouts for divas as fierce as the women to wear them.

No matter how you slice it, once you make the cut, you can make any average outfit take on a unique new character.

--- Cutouts Around the Internet ---

What difference can cut outs make? Find out from these bloggers (some may appear more than once):

(CRITERIA: "cut," "cut out," or "cutout")

• "Orange Cutout Maxi" (Haute and Rebellious Blog) « an orange cut-out maxi dress.
• "CUTOUTS AND PETITE FLOWERS" (Haute and Rebellious Blog) « a floral dress with cutouts below the bust line, also some boot-like sandals with cutout designs.
• "Cutout Dress" (Ivonne Stacy Style) « a dress with cutout details on the sides.
• "Casual in White Jeans" (Style Cassentials) « a peach-colored tunic with a cutout design in the back.
• "Bike ride...in heels and a maxi!" (Nany's Klozet) « a sleeveless blouse with cutout detail.
• "Enchanted City" (Lynne Gabriel) « a studded dress with cut outs.
• "Law of Attraction" (Camille Tries to Blog) « lace dress with cutouts.
• "4th of July Outfit" (Rachel's Lookbook) « a red, white, and blue outfit with a cutout on the back of the top.
• (ADDED: August 24, 2013) "OOTD: wearing my DIY green polka dots blouse" (Plumpy's Indulgences) « a green polka-dot blouse with cutouts on the shoulders.

• "cutout" on LOOKBOOK (Girls, obviously)
• Chictopia page on cutout fashion

This will hopefully provide some various cutout inspirations for you. Are any of you fashionistas reluctant to try cutouts?

--- Cutouts: Final Thoughts ---

Add some unique charm to outfits by cutting out parts of the outfit or the shoes. These subtle subtractions from garments and shoes offer differing levels of open-air appeal. Cutouts that expose midriff take a great deal of confidence to wear. Many different cutout elements offer elegance. Some others, however, can appear to be trashy for the most part. Regardless of the cutout elements, cutouts are very feminine and expressive. Everything from big heart designs at the back of tops and dresses to various cutouts in shoes help to exude the appeal of cutouts in a variety of garments and shoes.

Proudly wear your cutout garments and shoes, fashionistas!

--- Cutouts Online ---

It isn't recommended to cut out parts of your garments unless you're really crafty. So go buy some cutout pieces, like what I'm about to share with you here in this section. Your business would be appreciated if you shop around using these items:

Torrid

John B. Marine | 1:59 PM | | | | | | | 2 Comments so far
Plus-size specialist Torrid makes some of the most stylish and cutest fashions for plus-sized females. Their lineup includes both casual fashions and dressy fashions mostly for Juniors and Young Adults. Even some curvy bloggers I follow have worn items from Torrid. This blog post is my sort of post talking about Torrid. I'm pretty sure there is a certain audience who would appreciate me talking about this brand.

PLEASE NOTE: The views expressed in all of my posts regarding specific brands are all personal opinion. I am not sponsored or paid to discuss specific brands I discuss in blog posts. They are all personal opinion and provided for educational purposes.

You can visit www.torrid.com to visit Torrid's official home page. This link will appear again later in this post.

--- Torrid ---

Torrid
^ from: (hover over image for image credits) - The logo for Torrid.

Finding great-fitting, great-looking clothing is a goal anyone into fashion has a a challenge. Plus-size females surely have this challenge in heart. Many different retailers don't offer fashions for all sizes- including plus-size females. Sure, a curvy female may want to lose weight to slim down her size and become more slender. But in this day and age, and in a time where more and more females are body conscious, feeling unable to find good-fitting and great-looking clothes becomes its own struggle for curvy females. It makes some curvy types feel punished for not being slim and slender. So rather than nag on someone or feel sad about not being slim, you accentuate your curves and wear clothing that makes you feel good. If there is one that does offer great fashions for plus-size females, one company to look towards is Torrid.

Here is some brief info on Torrid.

Torrid in General.

Torrid is owned by Hot Topic. The company was created in 2001 as a specialist in plus size fashion. It is a brand that makes clothes for plus-size Juniors and Young Adults for sizes up to 5X.

Torrid is best known as a specialist of fashions for plus size figures. They do offer other such items not specifically for plus size figures. Torrid provides plus size ladies with cute and fun fashions. These fashions include a vast array of tops, bottoms, dresses, footwear, and accessories. In addition, they also offer lingerie and swimwear.

For those who want to model for Torrid, they have a service where aspiring models looking to sport Torrid's items can model for Torrid. One must be in the Southern California area to participate. More information on modeling for Torrid can be had here: .

My Own Thoughts on Torrid.

I think Torrid offers some of the cutest and most stylish fashions for Juniors and Young Adults. Their fashions are just as fun and as stylish as fashions for slimmer females. Any young curvy female who wants to wear comfortable and great-looking clothing can look to Torrid as one of the better retailers of plus-size fashions.

A Video Sample of Torrid.

This was the 2009 Torrid House of Dreams Fashion Show. This is a little insight of fashions offered from Torrid:

^ "Torrid House of Dreams Fashion Show"

Next up is a little extra Torrid insight from bloggers I follow.

--- Torrid in Pictures ---

So what does Torrid offer on the fashion front? I'll share with you some examples. Have a look (NOTE: click on the image source links to shop for the items from the sources where I got these images from):

Torrid top
^ from: www.amazon.com - This is a feminine black top with tattoo designs on it.

Torrid tank top
^ from: www.amazon.com - Who needs shoulders? Bare arms when it's hot... while looking hot! :)

Torrid dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - Can't curvy girls wear cute dresses too? This is a lace dress from Torrid.

Torrid hot dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - A dress like this is not bad if you want to glam things up a bit or go on a hot date.

Torrid skulls
^ from: www.amazon.com - Torrid may offer cute clothes, but they are still every bit as hard as their Hot Topic-owned counterpart. Torrid has lots of rock-influenced, skull-laden clothing and accessories like this item. Even though I dislike skulls, at least know Torrid has plenty of skull items to please those of you who love skulls.

Torrid skinny jeans
^ from: www.torrid.com - Torrid skinny jeans for curvy ladies.

Torrid bootcut or flared jeans
^ from: www.torrid.com - If you prefer jeans with wider legs, how's this for you?

Torrid shorts
^ from: www.amazon.com - A curvy girl can even enjoy wearing shorts from Torrid.

Torrid maxi dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - This is a sleeveless maxi dress from Torrid. Even plus size ladies can look fabulous in sleeveless tops and dresses.

Torrid romper or playsuit
^ from: www.amazon.com - Torrid also has some rompers/playsuits that may tickle your fancy.

Torrid swimsuit
^ from: www.amazon.com - For the curvy girl not afraid to wear a swimsuit at the beach...

This section was just a snapshot of Torrid's offerings.

--- Torrid Around the Internet ---

I mentioned Torrid as a plus size fashion specialist. However, not all of Torrid's offerings are for plus-size figures. Since some of my blogging friends and those I follow have some kind of Torrid items, I want to share with you a few items offered by Torrid as worn by various bloggers. I am not providing any of this just to promote the brand. I am simply posting these for educational purposes. Take a look:

• "Favorite Winter/Fall Fashion!" (Principessa Gabriella) « old post with multiple Torrid items in multiple outfits.
• "I Am Torrid: Spring Preview and Blogger Event" (Curvy Girl Chic) « a feature showcasing the blogger wearing Torrid items.
• "Adventures in Traveling: Cape Cod, Massachusetts" (Style Cassentials) « various Torrid items, including a swimsuit.
• "OOTD: My Favorite Jeans" (WaitUntilTheSunset) « skinny jeans from Torrid.
• "Pop of Color!" (Nany's Klozet) « even though she isn't plus size, she wears a necklace from Torrid in an old blog post.
• "Miami Design District!" (Nany's Klozet) « even though she isn't plus size, she shows a handbag from Torrid.

• "Torrid" on LOOKBOOK

Enough insight?

--- Torrid: Final Thoughts ---

A goal for almost anyone into fashion is to look and feel his/her best. When it comes to plus-size females, one company that makes it happen is Torrid. I often times wonder if plus-size fashion is more about wearing great clothes for one's size or having the confidence to look and feel great despite their size. Torrid and their fashions will very much appeal to and compliment the most fashionable of plus-sized females. Any plus size female looking to dress cute or stylish would be foolish to pass up on Torrid.
