Remembering Polyvore

John B. Marine | 7:57 AM |
Polyvore was great for posting sets. Now, Polyvore is no more- gone without much a trace. What was Polyvore sets are now widgets for fashion retailer SSENSE. SSENSE acquired Polyvore on April 5, 2018. I made my own sets with Polyvore even. This post is a look at Polyvore and why I think this is such a huge blow to fashion types.

What made Polyvore so popular was the fact this allowed people to put together their own fashion collages (called Sets). Even yours truly put together Polyvore sets for various creations of outfits. The fact Polyvore seemed to be a means of creating outfits was a boon for fashion types who otherwise would have to spend money to create certain dream outfits based on collages. Now that these collages from Polyvore are no more, one big piece of fashion experimentation is now dead. Polyvore helped to create fashion ideas most of us may otherwise not be able to create such ideas. Unless you saved images of whatever Polyvore sets you created, your fashion visions created through Polyvore are basically dead.

Even for a guy like myself, Polyvore was instrumental in me visualizing outfits to be worn. I learned Polyvore was no more when I looked at my "JohnMarineDesigns" page to see my Polyvore sets be turned into widgets for SSENSE. I pretty much have felt as if Polyvore went without a trace. It was the best possible service to visually showcase fashion ideas. Now with Polyvore gone, I will have to find more ways to visualize fashion.

I would like to thank Polyvore for giving myself and others the opportunity to create our own outfits through unique visualizations. Now that Polyvore is no more, fashionable types will have to find other ways to visualize fashion outfits. Thank you to the Polyvore team for helping us create our own sets and visualizations from the time Polyvore was existed on the Internet.

And that's all for this blog post. Here is your chance to discuss this topic...

Do you miss Polyvore? How will you remember Polyvore? How much has Polyvore meant to you?
