Before I Begin/Disclaimer:

This post is sponsored by millybridal. While this is a sponsored post, the opinions are of my own based on my researching of this topic. I was contacted by this company asking if I wanted to do a sponsored post, and I agreed.

You can learn more about millybridal with a link provided towards the end of this blog post.

millybridal

Allow me to introduce millybridal to you.

About millybridal.

millybridal is a Chinese fashion designer founded in 2003 by Mr. Feng Yu. The cost of providing high-quality wedding wear can be high, so the premise of millybridal is to provide lovely wedding wear at affordable prices. This company at least wants to make weddings a touch less expensive apart from things like wedding planning. Though a Chinese-based company, millybridal has establishments in the United States, Europe, and Australia. millybridal offers wedding dresses and even wedding footwear for brides to be and even for the various bridesmaids. While the company has "bridal" in it, they also offer prom dresses. So any of you looking for stylish prom dresses are also on the minds of those at millybridal. millybridal's range of products include wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother dresses, flower girl dresses, shoes, prom dresses, and certain other formal-type dresses. In other words... something for every lady for weddings or proms. Quite the portfolio.

Speaking of portfolios, let me share with you some of the items offered by millybridal. That is the next section of this blog post.

millybridal: Products

This section of the blog post features a handful of items offered by millybridal. The main point is to share some of the different items they offer. You are welcome to shop for these specific items if they interest you. While I only feature a few items here, they have many more items to share. So be sure to visit their website for more items. For now, though, here are some sample items from my researching of this topic.

NOTE: Each of the items are offered in a variety of sizes. Sizes for all or most of their garments start at a US size 2 (UK size 6 or EUR size 32) and go up to a US size 26w (UK size 32 or EUR size 56). Many of the items featured here are available in a number of different colors and styles. If you want to shop for millybridal's products, currencies are listed in pounds (GBP), Euros (EUR), and US Dollars (USD). You can change currency types from the website.

millybridal: Wedding Dress Shopping - Brides.

Whether you prefer a wedding dress or any kind of formal dress, Millybride has some thing for every lady. Let's focus on wedding dresses first.

Let me share with you a wedding dress I found to be lovely as I was researching this topic:
millybridal Ball Gown Scoop Neck Tulle Appliques Lace Sweep Train Long Sleeve Beautiful Wedding Dresses
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - Here is a wedding dress made for a princess.

What makes this dress beautiful to me are the fine lacy details along with the very modest style. Despite its modest and dreamy design, there is an open back to its design. It still remains a fabulous dress for the woman who wants to feel like a princess in a gorgeous wedding dress.

If the last wedding dress was too "cute," check this one out:
millybridal Sheath/Column Scoop Neck Chiffon Tulle Sweep Train Appliques Lace Modern Wedding Dresses
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - This wedding dress was meant more towards garden weddings or beach weddings.

A wedding dress like this is great for a bride-to-be to bare her legs and perhaps even her pumps or sandals. Those with garden or beach weddings would be best served to wear a dress like this with elegant showing of leg.

millybridal: Wedding Dress Shopping - Bridesmaids.

The bride obviously wants to look her best. So too, though, do bridesmaids. And here is an example of a fine bridesmaid dress from millybridal:
millybridal Hot A-line Chiffon Ruffles Sweetheart Light Sky Blue Bridesmaid Dresses
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - This is a bridesmaid dress with a romantic strapless style.

This would be the kind of dress to make bridesmaids look great. Great to show unity. However, what if you (as a bridesmaid) wanted to stand out a bit or wear something a bit more? Take a look at this millybridal bridesmaid dress:
millybridal A-line Scoop Neck Chiffon with Lace Asymmetrical Dark Navy Bridesmaid Dresses
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - This high-low/mullet dress is a more spicy number for bridesmaids.

Here is one more daring dress for bridesmaids. Check this out:
millybridal Silk-like Satin Sweep Train Ruffles Discount Backless Trumpet/Mermaid Bridesmaid Dress
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - These mermaid=like bridesmaid dresses have a deep backline and spaghetti straps. Make a stylish splash with these mermaid bridesmaid dresses.

millybridal offers bridesmaid dresses ranging from mild to wild. So look around on their site for more.

millybridal: Wedding Dress Shopping - Mothers.

Mom deserves to look fabulous seeing her offspring get married. To that end, millybridal has various dresses ranging from shorter dresses to longer ones. Let me show you some interesting ones I came across in my research of this blog topic...

millybridal Short Sleeve Perfect V-neck Chiffon Bow Short/Mini Mother of the Bride Dresses
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - This fairly short mother's dress has somewhat of a wrap design to it. The bow along the waist is a lovely touch to this lovely dress.

And here's another one:
millybridal Beautiful Scoop Neck Chiffon with Ruffles A-line Closed Back Mother of the Bride Dress
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - Despite it being a longer dress than the previous one, this dress is a bit on the hot side with cutouts offering romantic baring of cleavage along with a flash of midriff. The back of this dress is fully closed.

And why not... one more!
millybridal Lilac V-neck Chiffon with Appliques and Beading Floor-length Mother of the Bride Dresses
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - Mom is queen! This is a dress sure to make almost any mom look and feel like a goddess.

Moms deserve to look as fabulous as they want, and these dresses will do just that.

millybridal: Other Dresses.

Here is a quick rundown of some of millybridal's other offerings.

millybridal Ball Gown Off-the-shoulder Satin with Beading Floor-length Prom Dress
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - This is a beautiful prom dress with an off-shoulder design.

millybridal Casual Red Lace Tulle Scoop Neck Short/Mini Cap Straps Prom Dresses
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - Prom dresses, such as this one, are playful and fun for the girl who is equally fun and playful. This can also be a fine cocktail dress.

millybridal: Shoe Shopping.

So you have that dream dress in mind. What about your footwear, though? millybridal offers many different formal and chic footwear ranging from pumps to sandals. The shoes offered are high-heel formal pumps and sandals. Nothing too over-the-top are offered among the formal shoes.

Allow me to present you some examples of the footwear offered by millybridal. If the items interest you, you can click on the images to visit millybridal's website to shop for them.

millybridal satin buckle pumps
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - Satin pumps with a buckle design around the ankles.

millybridal snake stiletto heel pumps
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - This is a wild pair of pumps with a snake design on the heels.

millybridal patent leather stiletto pumps
^ from: uk.millybridal.org (click to shop) - Fierce mary jane pumps with plenty of straps.

Multiple shoes of multiple sizes are offered from millybridal. If you want to see more of their shoes and the sizes offered, then visit millybridal's website.

millybridal: Final Thoughts

millybridal has themselves a fine assortment of wedding dresses and other women's formal clothing for all to enjoy. One only needs to look at the many different offerings to see the range of styles to help women look and feel their best. The company also provides these various offerings for various sizes. You therefore (as a plus-size lady) don't have to exercise vigorously to try to fit into their items. Every lady deserves to look and feel as fabulous even for formal occasions, and millybridal provides this kick of fabulous to help ladies look and feel as fabulous as possible.

I would like to thank millybridal for bringing their brand to my attention in putting together this blog post. I am hopeful that maybe readers of "StyleSpace by JBM" can get to check out millybridal and their offerings.

Quinceañera Fashion

John B. Marine | 2:05 PM | | | | Be the first to comment!
Quinceañeras mark a girl's arrival as a woman in Latin cultures. As such, a ceremony is held to help commemorate this moment for when a girl becomes 15. Quinceañeras in Latin culture are equivalent of a Sweet Sixteen in America. It is a moment where such a girl feels like a princess- and so should she be. It is almost like a wedding or a prom for a girl to celebrate such an occasion. This blog post looks at the fashion aspect of Quinceañeras.

Before I Begin...

If anyone will be celebrating a Quinceañera or have recently celebrated one, congratulations to you! Maybe you can lend your insight on these occasions to this blog post.

It is Cinco de Mayo as of this post, so... Feliz Cinco de Mayo, mis amigos! :)

Quinceañeras

Quinceañeras are the coming of age party for Latinas for when they become 15 years old. "Quince" translates to 15, so when one Latina turns 15, she is considered an adult in Latin culture. A lavish celebration is offered to her. These Quinceañeras are basically celebrations where the girl actually feels like a princess.

Quinceañeras are like the combination of a birthday party and a wedding. You obviously want to look and feel like a princess or a goddess (or whatever you consider the highest form of beauty and importance). They are both a festive party and a vastly religious experience. The girl celebrating her 15th birthday is usually in a beautiful dress, about as beautiful as the most alluring wedding dresses. Her hair is done up beautifully as she'll be ready to have her wonderful festivities. Basically, the preparation for all of this is basically like a wedding.

Here are a number of things that happens based on what I've read on the Internet and seen in videos. The ceremony itself consists of blessings to declare the Quinceañera girl into womanhood. A Quinceañera waltz (or vals) is where a beautiful dance (similar to a wedding dance) commences. The girl usually dances with an escort and with others in beautiful ballroom-type waltz dancing. What may also be wanted for a Quinceañera is a baile sorpresa (surprise dance). This is where a unique dance routine is incorporated into the whole Quinceañera, usually after the usual Quinceañera waltz/vals.

Quinceañeras: Fashion.

Fashion for Quinceañeras are almost like proms. Formal dresses will suffice for the girl celebrating a Quinceañera. Formal outfits also are for men and women for these occasions.

^ from: www.amazon.com - A girl celebrating her Quinceañera wears a beautiful prom-style dress such as this one.

In addition to a lovely dress, one must also consider a beautiful hairstyle to compliment the Quinceañera dress. Here is an example of a beautiful hairstyle to go with a formal dress:

Quinceañera hairstyle
^ from: (Pinterest) - Consider getting a hairstyle as beautiful as your Quinceañera dress.

The last thing you'll probably need would be a formal pair of pumps or sandals. After that, you're set! Here is a little insight on shoes to wear for a Quinceañera: The Shoes for the Quinceañera. Now go enjoy your Quinceañera! :)

Quinceañeras: Final Thoughts

A Quinceañera is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for any girl who celebrates one or will celebrate one. As such, be sure to look and feel your best as you get all dolled up and ready to start a new chapter in your life. Look as fabulous as you want while also being fabulous.

Most of all, congratulations to you all who have celebrated your Quinceañera or will celebrate soon.

Cocktail Dresses

John B. Marine | 12:03 AM | | Be the first to comment!
(UPDATED: May 13, 2023)

Any dress can make a girl feel beautiful. When the occasion calls for a night out in colder weather times, cocktail dresses are great to get all dolled up in. These evening dresses are popular for party time or nights out. Though they are lovely any time of year, they surely become popular in cold weather times. Sure enough, the style gets hot when wearing a cocktail dress on a cold night. This blog post is dedicated to the girl who loves to dress up for a night out. Get all dolled up for this one. It's party time!

This is the *OFFICIAL* 300th post to "StyleSpace by JBM!"

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S)...

MAY 13 2023 - edited content, added widget

Cocktail Dresses

Time to talk cocktail dresses. Here's one for you:

cocktail dress
^ from: Amazon - Cocktail dresses can warm up the coldest of nights with their hot style. These dresses are popular in cold weather times, but they are beautiful all year 'round.

A true girly-girl can feel beautiful by wearing a dress as beautiful as she is. This is apparent whether wearing a lovely daytime dress or a glamourous nighttime dress. Or maybe one wears an amazing dress that can be taken from day to night with a few different items. Regardless, cocktail dresses are some of the most famous and trendiest party dresses a female can wear. Their namesake comes from the fact these dresses are named after various cocktail drinks. For the girl who just wants to look and feel beautiful, one can not go wrong sporting a cocktail dress. I don't drink or smoke, so I can't speak to any level regarding alcoholic drinks or stuff like that.

Most cocktail dresses fall down to inches/centimeters above the knees. They may have have an A-line (nowadays referred to as "skater") sort of look and feel, or they can be a bit more form-fitting. What makes cocktail dresses so popular are really just how beautiful and flowing they can be. Any girl who wants to look and feel pretty on a night out would look and feel her absolute best in a cocktail dress. Cocktail dresses can be adorned with sparkly accents, ruffles, high-low/mullet designs, and many more styling touches. These dresses can also come in a multitude of colors. They can have satin, silk, and lace among other materials. You can look fabulous in them even if you're petite or curvy.

Any dress that makes a female feel as beautiful as she looks is certainly a winner to me, and cocktail dresses certainly are winners. Dressy pumps and dressy sandals are usually complimented with cocktail dresses. I would imagine you'd have to find some warm tights in case it gets cold. I do not recommend the style advice in this sentence, but one stylist would suggest pairing fishnet tights and combat boots with cocktail dresses when I saw a YouTube video on cocktail dresses. Uh, no. To me- no combat boots, no sneakers... don't ruin the beauty and elegance of a cocktail dress with something trashy or overly casual. I might give a pass to dressy gladiator sandals. Maybe go with sneakers or something if you want something more comfortable to walk in besides dressy shoes, but keep the casual shoes at home with cocktail dresses. A cute touch you could add to a cocktail dress would be a bolero jacket in case of cold weather. A bolero that nicely matches a cocktail dress is better. You have a number of options to style such cocktail dresses. To me, it's all about being and feeling glamourous.

Cocktail Dresses: Final Thoughts

When it comes to glamorous dresses, cocktail dresses are fun and stylish for the lady all ready for a night out. These are fun dresses for occasions ranging from proms to parties and things like that. One really can't do any wrong styling cocktail dresses. So once you get all dolled up and get ready to have some fun when night falls, go find a cocktail dress as fabulous as you are. Feel as beautiful as you want to be. Just go have fun and score yourself a sweet cocktail dress!

Derby Hats

John B. Marine | 11:25 PM | | | | Be the first to comment!
With the #KyDerby coming up, I figured I'd discuss derby fashion. More importantly- those flamboyant hats worn by fashionistas. Derby hats are the focal point of this blog post, especially feminine ones. These are big and expressive hats with fancy designs to them. What makes these hats unique are their fancy designs. These are extra girly designs that are almost more suited for pictures or runway models than real people. Some of these eccentric designs on these usually wide-brimmed hats include various frills, flowers, ribbons, and all other kinds of adornments. Sometimes, a derby hat seems like they could overwhelm womens' heads or seem like they are going to eat one's head from the top on down. It is their unique appeal that makes them fashionable.

To be honest, I had intended to be about derby fashion in general, but I decided instead to focus on derby hats worn by women.

Derby Hat Examples.

How do derby hats look? Here are some examples:

derby hat
^ from: life2pointoh.com - A big hat worn by a female can be cute or stylish. Try one of these flamboyant derby hats for size!

Here is some video insight on derby hats:

^ "I made Kentucky Derby hats"

If you have some wide-brimmed floppy hats, you could make your own derby-style hat. You can look around online for a number of different resources on how to make a derby hat. Here are some resources for you on how to make your own Kentucky Derby hat:
• How to Derby Hat - StyleBlueprint
• How To Make Kentucky Derby Hats With 5 Tutorials That'll Ensure You Have The Biggest, Baddest, Floral Topper At Your Derby Party
• How to Make a Kentucky Derby Hat (with Pictures) | eHow

Have fun and good luck making your own derby hats!

Final Thoughts.

A wide-brimmed hat will nicely shield your head and neck from damaging sun rays. These derby hats are stylishly flamboyant to help you look your best as you watch those horses race their way around the horse racing track. The fact that people will go to crazy lengths to make such intricate hats make derby hats all the more enticing. If you do go ahead and try to make as crazy of a hat as possible, have fun and let your imagination run wild! I don't hate derby hats unless someone just makes a ludicrous looking hat.

Derby Hats Online.

There are actually sections devoted entirely to derby hats. If you want to shop online for derby hats, let me help you! Use these items and visit these links:

• derby hats on Amazon
• Kentucky Derby Hats on eBay
• Kentucky Derby Hats on NORDSTROM

Happy shopping!

I hope you enjoyed this post. So...

What do you think about derby hats? Would you wear one of these flamboyant hats with your wardrobe?

Since this post was created in advance of the 2015 Kentucky Derby, I'd like to wish good luck to all participants in the Kentucky Derby. I love horses, but I'm not really the horse racing type. You probably like them. So if you do, I'm sure you'll enjoy the horse racing at the Kentucky Derby. Anyhow, Subscribe and Follow my blog(s) if you enjoy my work. Halloween

John B. Marine | 2:36 PM | | | | | | | 1 Comment so far
Halloween may be the most fashionable time of year. It is a time of year where some people ponder hard about what they want to be each year. Some go for the most unique costumes. Some others take it a bit further with makeup and other touches. No matter what, Halloween is very much a time to be as creative as you want. This blog post is not any sort of personal suggestions post. Instead, this is just a general digest on Halloween.

Usually when I do posts on "StyleSpace by JBM," my intent is to avoid costumes and costume items. Most of what I post is about real fashions for real people. Some of my past blog posts mostly involved costume-like garments as I tried to put some of my posts together using various examples from other sources. This is one of those posts where costumes are fair game since Halloween is being discussed.

About the Label: "Costumes"

Blog posts that feature costumes are under this label. I usually don't feature anything of any costume nature on "StyleSpace by JBM" because I mostly focus on real fashion for real people. Topics under the "Costumes" label mostly feature costumes and insight on costumes and costume-like outfits.

--- Halloween ---

Halloween is about more than just candy, tricks and treats, and scaring people. Most people just see Halloween as a day to just have fun and dress up a certain way. Think of just one day out of the year where you can dress up to be almost anything you want. So is the appeal of Halloween. Many people have ideas as to how to dress up themselves or their children. Some people often times struggle trying to find out what they want to dress up as for Halloween. No matter what, Halloween can be a fun time to dress up for any number of people.

Dressing for Halloween, however, can involve much more than just costumes. Some even take things a step further with certain makeup and other beauty touches. Here are two perspectives on Halloween dressing...

Halloween: Costumes.

Do you know what you want to be for Halloween? Do you know what you want your children to be for Halloween (if you have children)? There are a variety of costumes for all walks of life ranging from babies to full-grown adults. What does it take to look cool for Halloween? It depends. What kind of statement do you want to make? People whom have enjoyed dressing up for Halloween many times before often times don't know what they want to dress up as for the upcoming Halloween. If you enjoy this holiday, you're always looking for fun outfits and ways to enjoy dressing up for Halloween.

Halloween: Beauty.

While Halloween is about costumes, it isn't about just costumes. In fact, certain touches to your appearance and to your outfit can add that extra bit of style to your Halloween costume. There are elements such as hair, makeup, accessories, and more that will help add some extra style to your Halloween outfit. It is all about finding and wearing outfits that are going to embrace and exhibit whatever you are going for in Halloween. There are items such as face paints and various other items to help enhance your looks for Halloween.

Once you think about what you want to be and how you want to present yourself, the next thing is to simply put your outfit together and go have fun!

--- Halloween: Final Thoughts ---

I hope all of you have a happy and safe Halloween for when Halloween rolls around. Use this opportunity to have fun dressing up and styling yourself up to look and feel your best. Be sure to have an awesome outfit for whatever you want to be for this Halloween. Remember- you put in the time and effort to think about what kind of outfit or anything to dress up for Halloween as. Go enjoy this experience and be safe. Also, go enjoy that candy that people treat you with! :)

--- In Case You Wonder About Me... (Bonus Section!) ---

In case you ask what I will be for Halloween, I will be... myself. Sort of a personal story is that Halloween has been a time where some of my worst moments and worst memories have happened. These usually bring back some negative memories for me personally. Some of those memories include things like being suspended for fighting, my final day as a student at one university, doing poorly on an assignment for college, and stuff like that. Friends of mine were born on Halloween. So while Halloween is a fun time, I don't usually look forward to Halloween often times with the same sort of happiness most other people do. Also, I just don't really celebrate Halloween in the sense of dressing up. So I am always one thing for Halloween- myself.

Sorry to disappoint any of my readers if you're expecting to see me go out in some sort of way in some kind of Halloween costume. While I may not share the same sort of happiness for Halloween, that shouldn't stop you from enjoying Halloween however you choose.

--- Halloween Resources ---

I have mostly discussed Halloween costumes here. If you are looking for some costume inspirations or whatever, I have these items below for you. I don't know what you want to be or how you parents reading this post want to dress your kids. So because I don't know, I'll leave it up to you to find something to help you out. Prom (short for "promenade") can be a great time for High School students. When the name of the game is looking and feeling great, prom does that for you. A girl wants to feel like a princess in a gorgeous prom dress. A guy wants to be handsome and sharp in a suit. No matter what, prom is a big fashion deal for some people in transitioning from High School to college. On "John's Blog Space," I discussed prom both in general and from a fashion standpoint. This blog post here on "StyleSpace by JBM" exclusively discusses prom fashion. Here is a post regarding prom style.

Before I begin, congratulations to any and all of you who will be graduating from High School (if any of you will graduate from High School soon). I also welcome those of you who have had prom before, whether not too long ago or those who had prom LONG ago (for my older readers).

--- Prom Style ---

(taken from "Proms and Prom Style" from "John's Blog Space")
Proms are get-togethers featuring high school Juniors and Seniors in a nice ballroom dance deal. For some prom-goers, prom is like a symbol of social status for high schoolers about as much as Sweet Sixteen parties or Quinceañeras. Because of this, some feel prom is an excellent opportunity to express yourself and your style in ways never before imagined.

Some people tend to question the purpose of prom. A search across Yahoo! Answers notes that prom is a dance forum to help high School Juniors and Seniors build social values. Prom is sort of like the intermediary between transitioning from high school to college. Proms are also eventually the transition from being a teen to being an adolescent. Think of proms more like Coming-of-Age parties or débutante parties for grade schoolers looking to head up to college. For many high schoolers, however, it is more like a Sweet Sixteen party (or some other event where social status and significance play a high role).

Prom Fashion: Females.

Because prom can be a big deal from a fashion standpoint, nothing less than stylish is warranted. A girl wanting to wear a gorgeous dress is very much a major point for a girl heading to the prom. A major point for a guy is to look as dashing and as handsome as possible. The standpoint of prom dresses greatly vary for females. Such girls are still quite young, so age-appropriate dresses that are not overly mature is more than suitable. Girls may be disallowed from prom should they wear dresses that are too trashy, risqué, or anything like that.

Not every prom girl could properly and comfortably wear a beautiful and dainty dress. Not many can proudly wear a pair of heels to go with such lovely dresses. It does take a great deal of confidence to proudly wear such vibrant dresses to an event like a prom. When I've flipped through the pages of Seventeen Magazine as well as Teen Vogue Magazine, I often times see stylish prom dresses. Only rather than with some beautiful pumps or beautiful sandals, some wear some lace-up booties or something. I've even seen Goth prom dresses paired with fishnet tights and combat boots. So for girls heading to the prom, let your own personal style shine. Only that this stage is a big one for you if you think dressing up for prom is make-or-break for you and how you are accepted by your peers.

Prom Fashion: Males.

I am not sure about prom being a big social deal for us males. All I do know is... guys, time to step your game up. Time for you to be that dashing and charming fellow willing to sweep any girl off of her feet. Standard issue for male prom style are black tie looks. It's all about sharp suits, sharp looks, and swagger. This is where wearing something like a suit or a tuxedo will do just fine for prom.

With this all said, prom is all about rocking your style and having that swagger. That swagger depends for both males and females. How about we delve further into prom fashion?

--- Prom Style in Pictures ---

I will mostly discuss prom dresses here. So feel free to take a look at these items:

prom dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - Let your inner princess shine in a prom dress that is as beautiful as you are.

elegant prom dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - It's okay to be daring for your prom attire. Just be careful not to be TOO daring.

short prom dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - A short prom dress makes just as much of a statement as a longer dress.

vibant prom dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - If you want to make a statement at the prom, say it with a vibrant and color dress like this one.

cocktail dress prom
^ from: www.amazon.com - A cocktail dress is both fun and flirty to wear, even for prom.

Prom dresses are the norm for females. For males, you're looking at either tuxedos or some other very classy black tie outfits.

--- Prom Style: Final Thoughts ---

I have never had a prom as part of my school experience. So I can't speak with any sort of experience. All I know is that all of you who are or have experienced prom- enjoy it. Enjoy the experience, enjoy the dressing up, and enjoy feeling in control. You earned this occasion as much as you earned graduating from High School. From a fashion standpoint, this is a chance for you to enjoy feeling in some sort of control and feeling important. What you wear should be as expressive and as fun as you are. While prom is a fun occasion, one should also note you are still a teenager- so dress appropriately to avoid being excluded from prom festivities. Don't wear any such dresses or other outfits either too risqué or offensive for prom. Prom should be fun and expressive, but never to the point of feeling too mature for your age. So go have fun at prom already!

One last time... I'd like to congratulate everyone who will be graduating soon. If you're going to participate in prom, I hope you enjoy the experience. Congratulations on a job well done.

Fashionably Benevolent

John B. Marine | 7:07 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
(UPDATED: March 20, 2017)

Benevolence is always in style. Some fashions and looks are done for certain causes and charities. Nothing is cooler than doing anything for charity. That even includes dressing up in a certain way and wearing certain clothes for certain causes. Certain clothes often help to donate to causes or to contribute to others in need. This blog post simply is about how fashion is used in raising awareness and supporting causes.

About the Label: "Hair"

Posts regarding hair or related to hair are all featured under the "Hair" label. These are blog posts that either mention or are about hair.

I included this label notice because part of the featured material mentions hair.

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

MAR 20 2017 - updated look of post including some link edits

Fashionably Benevolent

No matter what the latest fashion trends are, benevolence is always in style. It is always great to support various causes. As it relates to fashion, it great how simply wearing a certain set of clothes helps support certain causes. Some people will think that wearing certain clothes are fashion disasters. That is not the case considering the true purposes offered by wearing certain looks and outfits.

Such benevolence and benevolent acts range from certain groups to various profit and non-profit (or not-for-profit) organization. Certain local groups may, for example, ask for people to wear clothes of a certain color or wear certain items in support of some certain cause. Some group or cause may ask people to wear blue to support a certain cause like anti-bullying. Some groups may require someone to wear certain T-shirts (or other fashion items) specifically made in support of a certain cause. Some major organizations may ask for women to wear certain items to support certain charities. People who are generous and aware of various issues may want to support certain causes by getting involved in wearing certain clothes to help support certain viable causes. For those who feel fashion is as much of a statement maker as any other way to make a statement, fashion is a way to show benevolence.

So wearing clothes and wearing certain outfits can be a great way to show benevolence and support of various causes.

Fashionably Benevolent: Examples

Here are a few different examples of fashion for charity or to support certain causes. They include specific examples as well as some general examples. Any headers with hyperlinked material will allow you to visit the official website of each featured item:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Saying that this blog post was made in October, that means breast cancer awareness. Many people wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Note I said PEOPLE and not just females. Various male athletes even wear pink in October to support breast cancer awareness as well as contribute to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. Some people simply wear a pink ribbon pin. Some people just wear anything pink in support of breast cancer awareness. For example, there is a pink wrist band that has flower designs on it. I consider that my breast cancer awareness sort of deal.

You may also visit www.shopkomen.com to shop for items to help in the battle against breast cancer.

TOMS.

One of the most popular brands today is TOMS. TOMS is devoted to offer shoes to children in need with each pair of TOMS sold. The most famous shoes from the TOMS brand is their vast line of espadrilles. However, TOMS does offer more than just their famous (and trendy) espadrilles. A lot of their other products also help out others in need. You can visit www.toms.com to learn more about TOMS today.

Off-topic... Skechers has their own similar shoes and similar cause, called BOBS. Their shoes look about the same. Kind of like TOMS knockoffs.

Locks of Love.

Another charitable cause that's fashion-related is Locks of Love, which helps in offering hair donations to youth who suffer from medical hair loss. The cause is devoted to those here in the United States and in Canada. If you have a lot of hair on your head, you can have your hair cut to go for a good cause like Locks of Love. You'll be helping someone who may most need hair donations.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.

There are some charities where males have worn high heels to support certain causes and charities. For example, there are (mostly) men who wear high heel shoes to support causes ranging from opposing violence against women and domestic violence. One of the most popular of these causes is the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes charity, which helps in the battle against sexual abuse, rape, gender issues, and the like.

Go Red For Women.

This is a cause devoted towards helping both battle against heart disease in women as well as helping the American Heart Association. All females have to do is wear a red dress. One of my blogging friends took part in this with her own red outfit. Candy of "Curves Ahead" wore a lovely red dress to support the Go Red For Women cause. You can see her outfit here (in case you're interested): "Curves Ahead Goes Red with Macy's LLBLOG" (Curves Ahead).

Fashion for Charity (Honorable Mention!).

There is an organization called "Fashion for Charity" which features multiple events for which you can dress for charity or to support certain causes. You can learn more about Fashion for Charity by visiting www.fashionforcharityevents.com.

So as you can see, people can use fashion as a means of supporting a certain cause or charity. The main point of this section basically pertained to causes here in the United States and Canada. I somewhat intended to include some non-American causes, but the main point was on certain ways fashion is used as a means to contribute to certain causes.

Fashionably Benevolent: Final Thoughts

It is always pleasing to know that simply wearing a set of clothes can help support certain causes. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing clothes to donate to or support certain charities or causes. The most important thing is to support viable causes by doing things within your power. If "within your power" includes fashion, then use fashion as a means to suggest change or support a given cause. You use fashion as a way to express yourself. Why not also use fashion to support causes and raise awareness to certain issues? You have to credit people who use fashion as a means of contributing to causes.

Is there any fashion-related charities and causes you contribute to or have contributed to? What do you think about fashion and its impact on charities and causes? Feel free to comment on this topic with your input. Thank you for reading! Take care and be well.

Party Time!

John B. Marine | 9:59 PM | | | | | 1 Comment so far
(UPDATED: March 28, 2014)

It's party time! You know you have to step your style game up when ready for a party or a night out. "Party Time!" is one of my most popular posts on John's Blog Space. And here on StyleSpace, I lend my same discussion of party and night-out fashion here. Dressing for a night out or for any number of occasions means you'll need to get all dolled up and ready to party the night (or day- for day parties) away. This blog post is a look at fashions for parties or nights out. And yes- it's PARTY TIME!

No matter what posts may or may not be deleted, this post will officially be marked as the 50th post on "StyleSpace, by John B. Marine." The "Party Time!" on John's Blog Space was my official 500th blog entry.

BEFORE I BEGIN...

This blog post primarily concerns dressing up for a night out or for certain dressy occasions. There are many parties of many kinds, so I want to specify that this post mainly concerns most urban parties and occasions. About the target audience I am mostly discussing these fashions for are mostly people 18 or older.

LATEST UPDATE(S)/REVISION(S):

MAR 28 2014 - added some extra material, added extra source info for a used picture

--- Party Time! ---

The original "Party Time!" blog post from John's Blog Space had to do with fashion for a night out and for parties. The intent was mostly on semi-formal and formal parties. Dressing up for such occasions means enhancing your image as you attend and take part in lively functions.

Party Time for Males.

No guy wants to head to a party looking all frumpy and everything. A guy should be able to dress and act with some swagger. He should be the guy who has all the swagger and charm to whisk away any girl in the same vicinity- even if she's taken... and even if he is taken. So in most cases, a male should be handsomely-dressed and possess a good amount of charm as he's enjoying the festivities.

Party Time for Females.

A girl wants to be all dolled up when the hot nightlife beckons. She wants her hair to be styled beautifully. She wants her makeup touches to be picture perfect. And most of all- she wants her outfit (even if isn't a dress) to be every bit as charming as she is. At least for the girly-girl, she wants to look and feel like a princess on a night out. Some females even love any opportunity to glam it up and wear such stylish night-out fashions. Doesn't matter if it's a special party or a night at the nightclub- if it's an occasion where a girl can dress up and be all dolled up, it's time for her beauty to shine.

So when it is time for a party or some other festive function, it's best to look your best as well as feel your best!

--- Party Time: Dress to the Occasion ---

Certain occasions call for certain ways to dress up. Here's a look at a few different occasions:

Party Time! - Semi-Formal.

When I've looked at "Party Time!" on "John's Blog Space," I get a lot of people looking for the post regarding semi-formal fashion. A semi-formal occasion usually notes a party or function that requires you to dress appropriate; not exactly formal. It usually means that jeans are not off-limits. However, you do want to dress in a way suggestive of a party or some sort of formal function. So dress cleanly and stylishly.

Party Time! - Formal.

A formal-type party calls for some fancy suits and some fancy garments. The intent of this section mostly pertains to certain fancy parties like proms, wedding receptions, and things like that.

Party Time! - Dressy.

I classify dressy occasions as those that are not necessarily about any formal and proper occasions, but festive occasions and functions where most people dress up nicely. You know- dress to impress. I am mostly talking about certain parties and going to various nightclubs and lounges. An example of a dressy party would be a New Year's Eve party, for example.

Now let's look at the individual pieces that make up most semi-formal and formal night/party outfits.

--- Dressing Up For Nights Out ---

Now on to the main portions of this blog post. Here is a look at some of the many different fashion pieces for the night-out person...

Party Dresses.

party dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - Glam it up with a party dress!

juniors party dress
^ from: shop.nordstrom.com - a pretty pink party dress for Juniors from As U Wish.

The party dress is a real telltale sign of a girl ready to enjoy a night out at a party or a club. Party dresses are very feminine and charming. Most party dresses are silky to the touch and may even have shiny or sparkly elements. The ultimate of style of a party dress relates in feeling like a glamourous princess. Party dresses allow you to feel that extra bit girly and chic. These are dresses made for you to look and feel charming as you dance the night away. If you single ladies are lucky, you may even win the attention of a handsome single fellow as you're dancing away and being free. ;) I always fancy a dressy pair of pumps or sandals to go with a party dress. However, some fashionable ladies out there dare try wearing ankle boots. Some even dare wear a tough pair of lace-up ankle boots. And once, I've heard of some wearing combat boots with party dresses. But to me- pumps, sandals, or ankle boots (not any lace-up ones) are best.

Cocktail Dresses.

cocktail dress
^ from: www.amazon.com - A cocktail dress is girly, chic, and hot.

Usually more popular during colder weather, cocktail dresses are often named for the cocktail drinks they represent or are inspired by. I usually characterize cocktail dresses as fun and girly dresses that are either short or mid-length that flow beautifully. Such dresses have a beautiful shape to them. All you need are a lovely set of pumps or sandals, and you're set. Or if you're the tougher type, try a foxy pair of booties to compliment a cocktail dress.

Party/Evening Skirts.

evening skirt
^ from: www.nordstrom.com - Don't fancy a dress for a night out? Try a dressy skirt instead.

party skirt
^ from: www.amazon.com - This is a frilly taffeta skirt for party/evening wear.

You may consider an elegant skirt to wear with a stylish top if you don't fancy a dress. You have a few more options with a dressy skirt as you can find a great dressy top to compliment the skirt. A dressy skirt usually is made of the same silky or soft materials as party dresses.

Party/Evening Pants.

evening pants
^ from: www.neimanmarcus.com - You can still feel every bit dressy wearing a lovely pair of dressy pants.

For those not comfortable with skirts or dresses, or for those who are more comfortable wearing pants for nights out and for parties, there are a number of pants and pant suits meant to be every bit as charming for a night out as any skirt or dress. There is no shame wearing a pair of pants to compliment any sort of dressy outfit. I would fancy a chic sleeveless blouse to go with a pair of dressy pants. That is, unless it's cold outside.

Party/Evening Shorts.

evening shorts sequin
^ from: www.shopbop.com - Some shorts are very chic to wear for a night out or for certain occasions. These sequin shorts from Diane Von Furstenberg are an example of evening-type shorts.

Who said shorts were only for casual wear and only for the daytime? Some shorts are so chic and dressy that they can be worn for a night out. Don't be under the presumption that shorts are not worth wearing for a party or (most) dressy occasions.

Party/Evening Rompers/Playsuits and Jumpsuits.

One-piece shorts and one-piece pants make great alternatives to dresses. In addition, the rompers/playsuits of today have proven to be VERY chic. Such rompers/playsuits can be every bit as flirty and hot as any traditional short dress. Don't listen to anybody who says that rompers/playsuits are not meant to wear for a night out. Some of them are more than dressy enough for a night out as any dress.

evening romper playsuit
^ from: www.shopbop.com - Not all rompers/playsuits are meant for daytime only. Some, like this sexy "Buckets of Rain" romper/playsuit from findersKEEPERS, are more than adequate for a night out or a party than for daytime wear.

Don't let anyone tell you that rompers/playsuits are ONLY for daytime wear and only with casual shoes. Some rompers are great exceptions, especially those that are elegant and chic in design. Some celebrities have worn these along with some dressy pumps, some chic sandals, or even a sexy pair of high-heel booties. So don't be afraid to wear a romper for a night out. Especially the ones that look like very short dresses can be the hottest ones to wear. One-shoulder and one-sleeve rompers can certainly be hot to wear.

evening jumpsuit
^ from: www.nordstrom.com - A jumpsuit (or a palazzo jumpsuit in this case) is a great dress alternative.

A jumpsuit can be equally hot to wear for a night out. Palazzo jumpsuits can be a great pants alternative to a maxi dress, but skinny and normal width jumpsuits can be equally charming and flattering. I would recommend palazzo jumpsuits if we're talking formal or dressy occasions. They can be very elegant to wear.

Party/Evening Denim.

dressy denim
^ from: www.shopbop.com - Some jeans are classy enough to wear to even semi-formal occasions- like these MiH Marrakesh kick flare jeans.

If someone says you can't wear denim for a night out, then unless it's for a formal occasion, they're crazy! As long as the jeans aren't extremely ripped up and torn, or if they are acid-washed, or anything like that; classy denim bottoms can be more than acceptable to wear to certain upscale occasions.

Club Shirts (Men).

button-down shirt men
^ from: www.macys.com - a button-down shirt like the one above is great to dress down during the day and dress up for the night.

The guy who wants to look good going out to the club or a lounge obviously needs to wear a shirt as cool as he is. One such option would be a good nightclub shirt; or at least, a shirt stylish enough to wear to a nightclub or lounge.

Everyone can use fun and stylish fashions for nights out and for all sorts of parties and other occasions. So can us guys. And one way to look great for a night out at the club or at a lounge is to wear a club shirt.

These are among many different examples of how males and females for parties and other dressy occasions.

--- Party Time Around the Internet ---

Even though I've made mention to male fashion, most of what I'm discussing here will primarily involve feminine fashion. So here are a few blog posts of some stylish and sophisticated party outfits:

• new look: "Pair of disco shoes & one warm evening" (Glam and Fab Chameleon) « a chic evening dress with peep-toe shoes.
• new look: "Satin Night" (Glam and Fab Chameleon) « a stylish evening dress with strappy sandals.
• Pink + Red (Valentine's Inspiration) - (Style 4 Curves) « a Valentine's Day outfit with a lovely party dress and some dressy pumps.
• Roman Luxe x Revolve Party (KARLA'S CLOSET) « long dress with dressy sandals.
• 2 Birthday Dresses! Polka-dotted and High-low Dresses! (Principessa Gabriella) « two outfits, including a charming high-low/mullet dress worn for a birthday party.
• Party dress looks on Lookbook
• Party dresses on Chictopia

Those are are many links as I could provide to help prove the point.

--- Party Time: Final Thoughts ---

When it comes time to party or dress up for festive occasions, it's best to look your best. Look your best when you leave the house all the time wherever you go, but you have to step your style game up with such occasions. Be both confident and charming in your personality and in your fashion. Who wants to be at a festive occasion feeling poor and lifeless and not confident? When it's party time, build up your personality and make yourself presentable.

If you're about to attend or will attend some sort of festive occasion any time soon, have fun and be safe!
